Stomach problems require not only medication, but also maintenance. How should we maintain the stomach?

Many people asked Huazi why their stomach problems never get better after taking medicine. Is it because the medicine is not suitable for them? Huazi said that for stomach problems, medication is only "auxiliary" and nourishing the stomach is the key. The human stomach can secrete gastric acid and digestive enzymes to digest food, and it is also a muscle sac that stirs food.

When the stomach stirs food through its own peristalsis, the stomach wall will rub against the food and become damaged, but most people will not develop stomach problems because the stomach wall cells have a strong regenerative function and can repair themselves quickly. Therefore, to treat stomach problems, as long as the damaging factors are eliminated, the stomach will repair itself.

1. The main cause of gastric disease is the disruption of "balance". The stomach can secrete gastric acid and digestive enzymes, which are factors that attack the gastric wall cells. However, the gastric wall has defensive factors such as mucus, bicarbonate, prostaglandin, and cell regeneration. Under normal circumstances, the "attack factor" and the "defense factor" are in a state of balance. The mechanism of gastric disease is mainly because the balance is broken.

For example, Helicobacter pylori infection will secrete bacterial toxins; if you overeat, it will stimulate the secretion of gastric acid and digestive enzymes, which will increase the effect of attack factors. If you take aspirin, it will reduce the production of prostaglandins; if you are in a state of anxiety or depression for a long time, the gastric nerve regulation function will malfunction, which will weaken the effect of defense factors. When the balance is broken, chronic gastritis will occur.

2. Symptomatic treatment of different symptoms The stomach has two main functions: one is to secrete gastric acid and digestive enzymes; the other is to produce peristalsis and push food. When there is a problem with the stomach, different functional disorders will occur, leading to different symptoms, and corresponding drugs can be used for symptomatic treatment.

1. Insufficient gastric acid secretion: You can take dilute hydrochloric acid and various digestive enzyme preparations to make up for the deficiency of gastric acid and increase the activity of pepsin.

2. Excessive gastric acid secretion: People with excessive gastric acid and peptic ulcer can use antacids, including proton pumps (various "prazoles"), H2 receptor blockers (various "tidines") and other drugs to inhibit gastric acid secretion; they can also use gastric mucosal protective drugs to neutralize gastric acid and reduce damage to the stomach.

3. Weakened gastric motility: When symptoms of weakened gastric motility such as upper abdominal fullness and loss of appetite appear, gastric motility drugs can be used to promote gastric motility.

4. Stomach cramps: If stomach cramps occur, you can use antispasmodics to relieve the pain.

3. Pay attention to diet when nourishing the stomach. Stomach disease is closely related to diet. During the treatment process, drugs can only relieve symptoms. If you do not pay attention to your diet, stomach disease may not be cured for a long time, so it is very important to improve your diet.

1. Eat less irritating and stomach-damaging food: Foods that are too hot, too cold, too spicy, too sweet, too sour, and too oily, as well as strong tea, coffee, and other beverages, are irritating to the gastric mucosa, so eat less of them. Quit smoking and drinking to avoid irritation. Leeks, bamboo shoots, bacon, and other foods are high in fiber and have a rough texture, which can easily cause mechanical damage to the gastric mucosa, so eat less of them.

2. Drinking milk does not nourish the stomach: People with stomach problems drink milk does not nourish the stomach. The protein and fat contained in milk will stimulate the production of more stomach acid and aggravate stomach pain symptoms.

3. Moderate “small and frequent meals”: For people with peptic ulcers, “small and frequent meals” can relieve the pain of ulcers. But don’t overemphasize frequent meals, because food entering the stomach is a stimulus in itself, which will promote gastric peristalsis, increase gastric acid and pepsin secretion, and is not beneficial to the healing of ulcers.

4. Easy-to-digest light diet: In the early stage of the disease, you can choose easily digestible foods such as rice porridge and noodles. However, long-term consumption of porridge will cause the digestive function of the stomach to deteriorate due to "use it or lose it". It is recommended to resume a normal light diet after 2 to 4 weeks. Cooking methods should be steamed and boiled, and avoid vinegar, frying, stir-frying, etc.

5. Maintain a stable mood: People's emotions will interfere with the nerves that control the gastrointestinal tract. For example, when people are anxious, nervous, or afraid, they don't feel hungry because emotions disrupt the normal function of the nerves. So you should control your emotions and avoid negative emotions.

6. Chew slowly: Slow down your eating speed, let the teeth chew and the tongue stir to replace part of the stomach function, so that the stomach can rest. Usually, you should pay more attention to keeping the abdomen warm, avoid overwork, and pay more attention to food hygiene. People with poor stomachs should exercise 2 hours after meals.

To sum up, gastric disease occurs mainly because the balance between "attack factors" and "defense factors" in the stomach is broken. Medication treatment may be used according to specific symptoms, but gastric disease is "three parts treatment and seven parts care". If you want to completely cure gastric disease, you still have to rely on "care". Medication must be used under the guidance of a doctor. If you have any doubts about medication, you should consult a doctor or pharmacist in time. I am pharmacist Huazi. Welcome to follow me and share more health knowledge.
