Exposing the true face of the "miracle drug"! Say "no" to these rumors

When the temperature drops sharply and the autumn chill becomes stronger, many people, worried about catching a cold and getting sick, start taking isatis root, probiotics, vitamin C, etc., believing that they can prevent colds.

In fact, for healthy people, these "magic drugs for disease prevention" cannot directly prevent colds, and taking too much may even cause hidden dangers. Take Isatis root as an example. It is a drug for clearing heat and detoxifying. It can be used to treat wind-heat colds, but it has no preventive effect. On the contrary, if healthy people take Isatis root, it may also irritate the gastrointestinal tract due to its bitter and cold taste, and some people with weak constitutions may suffer from diarrhea. Vitamin C, which is "favored" by people, can help recover as soon as possible when taking it when you have a cold, but it cannot directly prevent colds. If you take vitamin C for a long time and in large quantities, it will increase the risk of kidney stones. As for foods such as bovine colostrum and probiotics, they have no effect in preventing colds.

In daily life

Various "miracle drugs" are everywhere

XX can prevent disease and fight cancer

XX can make people stay young forever

......

Are they really that magical?

Let’s take a look

1. Are they all anti-cancer “miracle drugs”? Don’t get too excited

1. Can “Quantum Plastic” prevent cancer?

There is no way to verify the claim that Quantum Yuansu (mineral drink) can prevent and treat a variety of diseases. Quantum technology is currently in the experimental stage and is still a long way from practical application. The so-called "quantum products" such as quantum drinks on the market have nothing to do with quantum.

2. Is there a miracle anti-cancer drug with a cure rate of 75%?

The rumored "broad-spectrum" anticancer drug can only act on tumor cells with "mutations caused by NTRK gene fusions", which is only applicable to about 1% of cancer patients. In addition, in clinical trials, this new drug showed an objective response rate of 75%, but it is by no means equivalent to "cure", and the cure rate of 75% is a misunderstanding.

3. Is “Vitamin B17” really a miracle anti-cancer drug?

The so-called "vitamin B17" is actually a cyanogenic glycoside, which is mainly found in the kernels and leaves of bitter apricots and almonds. Currently, there is no data to show that "vitamin B17" has an anti-cancer effect, and improper use may lead to poisoning.

4. Can artemisinin health products fight cancer?

At present, the more obvious effect of artemisinin is anti-malarial, and its anti-cancer effect has not yet been confirmed. In fact, the artemisinin used in clinical practice is extracted from the Chinese herbal medicine Artemisia annua, which is not equivalent to artemisinin health products. Simply consuming natural Artemisia annua cannot achieve obvious anti-disease effects.

5. Black wolfberry becomes a miracle drug against cancer?

The characteristic active ingredient of black wolfberry is anthocyanin, which has antioxidant and free radical scavenging activity and is widely found in dark red, purple or blue vegetables and fruits, such as grapes and blackberries. At present, there is a lack of clinical experimental research on anthocyanin, and its application is mainly limited to cosmetics, health products and nutritional supplements.

2. Are these "magic drugs" good for beauty and weight loss? Not that simple

1. The world's first "elixir of life" has emerged?

The so-called "drug of immortality" in the rumors refers to nicotinamide mononucleotide, abbreviated as NMN, which is a vitamin B derivative. NMN can reverse physiological aging to a certain extent in animal experiments, but the number of samples is small. If we want to prove that the same effect can be reproduced in humans, we need to do more human trials. It is too outrageous to call it a panacea for rejuvenation now.

2. Astaxanthin can whiten and remove spots, and can be called the "king of antioxidants"?

"Antioxidant" itself is a pseudo-concept. Human survival depends to a large extent on various redox reactions. Blindly consuming "antioxidants" will cause damage to the human body. In addition, most of the research on the health benefits of astaxanthin is cell and animal experiments. Evidence from humans is often isolated. So far, no related drugs have been released, and there is no reliable evidence to support it.

3. Is metformin a miracle drug for weight loss?

Metformin has a certain weight loss effect on overweight or obese diabetic patients, mainly by suppressing appetite, reducing gastrointestinal absorption, and consuming more carbohydrates. Currently, there are very few clinical studies on the use of metformin for weight loss, and its efficacy is not clear. Improper use may cause side effects.

4. Is collagen a “holy product” for beauty?

Generally speaking, collagen obtained through food is a large molecule protein that is not easily absorbed by the human body. Whether the absorbable small molecule peptides have the effect of beauty and skin care has yet to be confirmed. In addition, the overall condition of the skin depends on the overall nutritional status of the body and external environmental factors. Eating collagen alone cannot solve the problem.

5. Lemon water is rich in vitamin C, which is whitening and antibacterial?

There is no sufficient scientific evidence to support the claim that vitamin C can whiten your skin, and lemons are not rich in vitamin C, so they don't have much effect on whitening. The so-called antibacterial and immunity-enhancing effects are even more wishful thinking.
