If the level of intrauterine hypoxia is severe during fetal heart rate monitoring, the fetal heartbeat abnormalities will be more serious. A fetal heart rate monitoring score of nine is normal, with the highest score being ten. If the fetal movement is excessive and frequent, there is a possibility of intrauterine hypoxia in the fetus. 2). Genetic variation of fetal heart rate (bpm): less than 5 points for 0 points; 5-10 points for 1 point; more than 10 points for 2 points.

3). Fetal heart rate growth rate (bpm): less than 5 is 0 points; 5-10 is 1 point; more than 10 is 2 points.

4). Fetal heart rate deceleration: repeated terminal deceleration or repeated genetic variation deceleration is 0 points; genetic variation deceleration is 1 point; no or early deceleration is 4 points.

The scores of items 1) to 4) are summed up, with ≤4 points indicating a positive score; 5 to 7 points indicating an abnormal score; and 8 to 10 points indicating a negative score. Fetal heart rate monitoring of 8 to 10 minutes is considered normal. If there is abnormal fetal heart rate monitoring, some protective measures can be taken under the guidance of a doctor.

There are two curves on the fetal heart rate monitoring chart, one records the changes in the fetal heart rate, and the other records the uterine contraction status. Under normal circumstances, the fetal heart rate is maintained at 120~160 beats/minute. The fetal heart rate is faster when the fetus is moving than when it is resting (at least 15 beats per minute), and it lasts for at least 15 seconds. This normal situation is called "fetal heart rate monitoring response type", which is the result that every expectant mother hopes to obtain.

If the fetal heart rate does not increase when the baby moves, or there is no fetal movement at all during the fetal heart monitoring period, this indicates that the fetal condition may be abnormal (such as lack of oxygen or embryo problems, etc.). This situation is called "unresponsive type" and the pregnant woman needs to do another fetal heart monitoring after 1 hour, or do other further examinations.
