"Surrogacy" In the past two days, everyone should have seen this word being searched repeatedly. This bunch of academic terms may be a bit difficult to pronounce, but in fact, to put it simply - surrogacy is to rent your uterus to someone else to give birth to a child. Surrogacy can generally be divided into two categories according to different operations: It is the kind that we are more familiar with these days. Parents who want children but do not want to have them themselves provide their own sperm and eggs to synthesize a fertilized egg, which is then placed in the uterus of a surrogate mother for surrogacy. The main difference between partial surrogacy and full surrogacy is that the egg used in partial surrogacy is the surrogate mother's. The child born is related to the surrogate mother by blood, and the sperm may come from the male client or the sperm donor. However! No matter which surrogacy method is used, as long as it involves buying and selling, it is strictly prohibited in our country! As early as 2001, the Ministry of Health issued the "Regulations on the Management of Human Assisted Reproductive Technology", which clearly stipulated: I know that many people don’t understand why surrogacy is prohibited: People who think this way simply have no idea how terribly surrogacy can develop when driven by profit! 02 How “commoditized” can people born through surrogacy be? I checked and found that the surrogacy industry chain in China has developed very well. From egg donation volunteers-test tube technology-surrogate mothers-transnational production, all processes have been standardized. There will also be dedicated lawyers as consultants to be responsible for signing contracts and avoiding various legal risks. In fact, you should also feel how rampant underground surrogacy is in your life. In schools, hospitals, and women's toilets in various public places, you can see advertisements for egg donation and surrogacy everywhere. There are even surrogacy websites that blatantly advertise and promote them on TV shows. I pretended to be a client and contacted a surrogacy agency website and asked them whether surrogacy was legal. The answer I got was: "Surrogacy is currently a gray industry in our country." This is breaking the law knowingly and blatantly exploiting legal loopholes. Here, egg donation volunteers and surrogate mothers will be charged different prices based on their body shape, appearance, education, skin color, financial status, fertility status, etc. They promised that the egg donors were all young female college students in their early 20s, and their height, appearance, and academic qualifications were all acceptable for interviews. I checked online and found that many surrogacy agencies offer a wide variety of packages based on the needs of different customers. Some of them can even guarantee the success rate of childbirth. Normal childbirth cannot be guaranteed, so how do they do it? The principle is very simple - "add quantity"! Put 2 to 3 embryos in the surrogate mother's uterus at one time, and there will always be one that can grow well! What’s even more outrageous is that if you have enough money, you can even choose whether the child is a boy or a girl. Of course, they don’t confirm it from the moment the fertilized egg is formed, but wait until the gender of the embryo in the surrogate mother’s belly can be confirmed before deciding whether to give birth to the baby or have an abortion and try again. Giving birth is a test of hell. But in the surrogacy industry, surrogate mothers need to go back and forth between these gates of hell frequently. Not only have surrogate mothers become commodities, but the embryos in their bellies are also labeled one by one: "successful products", "defective products" and "abandoned products". 03 How many lies and deceptions are behind the “high salary”? When you saw the words "160,000-200,000, food and accommodation included", did you think for a moment that this was a really good deal? Countless people who are attracted by the "high salaries" in small advertisements have no idea how difficult it is to get this money. The gender-guaranteed deal costs 1.3 million yuan, and the surrogate mother may only get a few hundred thousand or a few hundred thousand yuan after risking her life for one or two years. But if it fails, all you will get is 20,000 to 30,000 yuan in compensation. Moreover, because surrogacy is not legal, even if the surrogate mother is physically injured or even loses her life, she cannot be protected by the law. In order to get more eggs, egg sellers do not take into account the girls' physical endurance and only want them to produce more eggs at one time. There are also many cases where the clients regret having their children born. Not only does the surrogate mother not get any money, but she also suffers a double blow mentally and physically. 04 Why do we oppose surrogacy? Now let's think about a basic question: Why do some people still seek surrogacy despite the prohibition and difficulties? Perhaps it is a way for some people to improve their quality of life. They are afraid of the pain of childbirth, do not want to go through the pregnancy period, and do not want to have the sequelae of becoming fat and ugly after giving birth. They naturally want to find someone who is not afraid of those things but has no money, and "rent" their body to them in exchange for money. Of course, there are some people who really have relatively reasonable needs and want to be surrogate mothers. For example, if someone's fertility is impaired and they have diseases like uterine insufficiency, but they want to have their own children, then they can understand it if they put themselves in their shoes. Why would someone "trade their life for money" to be a surrogate mother for others? The easiest answer to this question is one word: poverty. It seems that there is a demand for surrogacy, and there are people willing to do it. So, can it really be legal? I think it cannot. Imagine, if surrogacy is really legal, how will our lives change? Maybe, as the UP host "Mr. Liucenglou" said, girls will often hear something like this: When surrogacy becomes a tool to make money, every woman will face the risk of being a surrogate. If the family is out of money or in trouble, surrogacy is fine. If the rich are worried that having children will affect their careers, they can just find someone to be a surrogate. When we study hard to obtain a higher degree, but it can only be used as a weight to increase our own prices, then ethics, fairness and dignity will disappear. I don’t want to see women really lose the freedom of their uterus; I don’t want to see women really become tools for reproduction; One minute with the doctor, the postures are constantly improving - End of this issue - |
