More and more people are suffering from high blood pressure! Statistics show that one in every four adults in my country suffers from hypertension. Many years ago, we all thought that hypertension was an old age disease, but in recent years we have found that more and more young people have developed hypertension. Although the blood pressure standards for the elderly and young people are currently the same, and although many people with hypertension do not show any discomfort after developing hypertension, if young people have the same high blood pressure as elderly people, then the risk is greater for young people. 1. For young people, blood pressure cannot simply be based on 140/90 mmHg as the standard The current standard for hypertension in my country is that blood pressure above 140/90 mmHg is considered hypertension. Blood pressure below this level is not considered hypertension, but it is not normal either. 120-139/80-89 is considered high normal blood pressure, not normal blood pressure; Normal blood pressure is below 120/80. In recent years, a large number of studies have told us that for young people, the lower the blood pressure, the better, and it cannot be satisfied with just being below 140/90 mmHg. Many studies have shown that people who develop high blood pressure at a young age have a significantly increased risk of cardiovascular disease compared to those who develop high blood pressure in old age. Many studies have found that when young people's blood pressure exceeds the ideal level of 120/80 mmHg, the risk of cardiovascular disease increases. 2. According to the latest research in my country, at the age of 45, if blood pressure exceeds 120/80 mmHg, the risk of cardiovascular disease increases significantly On September 9, scientists from multiple institutions and units in Guangdong, my country published a study in the British Medical Journal: For adults under 45 years old, as long as the blood sugar level exceeds 120/80 mmHg, the cardiovascular risk increases significantly. The studies, which looked at 4.5 million people under the age of 45 for 15 years, found that: Compared with young people whose blood pressure is lower than 120/80 mmHg, Blood pressure: 120-129/80-84 mmHg, cardiovascular disease risk increased by 19%; Blood pressure: 130~139/85~89 mmHg, cardiovascular disease risk increased by 35%; Blood pressure: 140~159/90~99 mmHg, the risk of cardiovascular disease increases by 92%; Blood pressure: ≥160/100 mmHg, the risk of cardiovascular events increases by 215%. As blood pressure continues to rise, the risk of coronary heart disease and cerebral stroke will increase sharply. 3. Causes of hypertension in young people More and more young people are suffering from hypertension, which is closely related to our lifestyle. Although hypertension has a certain relationship with genetics, it is not the only relationship. If parents develop hypertension before the age of 55, the risk of their children developing hypertension will increase. For young people, the main reason for hypertension is their unhealthy lifestyle. For example, if young people stay up late, the risk of hypertension will be greatly increased; if young people are obese, the risk of hypertension will be greatly increased; if young people do not exercise, the risk of hypertension will be increased; if young people smoke and drink, the risk of hypertension will be increased; if young people have an unhealthy diet, heavy taste, excessive salt, and less plant food, the risk of hypertension will be increased; if young people are under great stress, the risk of hypertension will be increased. The more of these factors young people have, the higher the risk of high blood pressure, and more often than not, young people experience mainly elevated diastolic blood pressure. 4. Does increased low blood pressure have any impact on health? Studies have found that whether it is high or low blood pressure, as long as it increases, it will increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. When systolic blood pressure exceeds 120-129 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure exceeds 80 mmHg, the risk of cardiovascular events, coronary heart disease, and stroke in young people increases with the increase in blood pressure. Blood pressure: 140-159/90-99 mmHg, risk of death increased by 42%; Blood pressure: ≥160/100 mmHg, the risk of death increases by 101%. Moreover, in people aged 30 to 45, the risk of cardiovascular events increases more significantly as blood pressure rises. 5. How can young people lower their blood pressure? We have analyzed the causes of high blood pressure in young people above. So to lower blood pressure, we must first start with a healthy lifestyle. We should change unhealthy lifestyles, stay away from tobacco and alcohol, exercise regularly, reduce staying up late, eat a healthy low-salt, low-oil, low-sugar diet, control our weight, and maintain a good mood. Only by doing these can we effectively control and prevent high blood pressure. If blood pressure still does not meet the standard after the above methods, it is recommended to take antihypertensive drugs. There is no antihypertensive drug that simply lowers low blood pressure. All antihypertensive drugs lower both high and low blood pressure. However, clinical experience tells us that sartan, pril or lolamine may be more suitable for raising low blood pressure. Young people, especially those under 45 years old, your blood pressure should not just be below 140/90 mmHg. Try your best to find ways, especially healthy living methods, to lower your blood pressure to below 120/80, which is the ideal blood pressure. For young patients with hypertension, blood pressure should be lowered more strictly, which can extend their life expectancy. As they age, the benefits of strict blood pressure lowering will gradually decrease. Therefore, the younger you are, the more strictly you should lower your blood pressure when you develop high blood pressure! It is even more important to emphasize healthy living and prevention of high blood pressure starting from an early age! |
