What is the relationship between Tai Chi and Tai Chi?

Taiji is an important concept in the history of Chinese culture. It is a category used by ancient Chinese philosophy to explain the origin of the world. Taiji first appeared in the Book of Changes. Taiji gave birth to the two opposites, the two opposites gave birth to the four images, and the four images gave birth to the eight trigrams. It means that at the beginning of the universe, there was chaos. The movement of Taiji differentiated into yin and yang, and yin and yang gave birth to the four seasons, and then various natural phenomena appeared. Tai means big; Ji means extreme point. Things change when they reach their extremes, so Taiji is the source of change and the source of all things in the universe.

The concept of Tai Chi has had an important influence on Chinese history. After being enriched and developed by Chinese Taoism, Taoist thought with Tai Chi as its core was formed. Neo-Confucianists in the Song Dynasty believed that Tai Chi is the principle, and introduced it into Neo-Confucianism in the Song and Ming Dynasties, further enriching its connotation.

Tai Chi and Tai Chi sword are derivatives of Tai Chi. They are two sports that integrate the essence of Chinese culture, with gentle and slow movements, and are used to cultivate one's character and strengthen the body. In addition, because Tai Chi requires pushing left, right, forward, and backward, people now often use Tai Chi to illustrate the need to solve a problem or take responsibility, and people push each other.

Where did Tai Chi originate?

Tai Chi originated in Wen County, China. Tai Chi, a national intangible cultural heritage, is based on the Tai Chi and Yin-Yang dialectics in traditional Chinese Confucian and Taoist philosophy. It is a traditional Chinese martial art that combines internal and external cultivation, is gentle, slow, light, and hard and soft, and was formed by ancient Daoyin and breathing techniques.

Taijiquan belongs to a large boxing system of martial arts. The name Taijiquan is derived from the fact that the boxing techniques are infinitely varied, and the ancient Chinese philosophical theory of Yin-Yang and Taiji is used to explain the boxing theory. The word Taiji originated from the Book of Changes: Taiji is the birth of two principles. Tai means big, and Ji means the beginning or the top. The first sentence of Zhou Dunyi's "Taiji Tushuo" in the Song Dynasty is "Wuji and Taiji". It does not mean that Taiji is born from Wuji, but that Taiji is originally Wuji, which means that Taiji is the origin of all things, and contains the meaning of supreme, ultimate, absolute, and unique. Taijiquan also has this meaning. The Taiji diagram is the most primitive worldview of the ancient Chinese. The combination of boxing and Taiji theory gradually formed Taiji boxing.
