What causes excessive vaginal discharge during menopause?

Women have more leucorrhea during menopause, but they don't know why. This is a problem encountered by many menopausal women. So, what is the reason for the increase of leucorrhea in women during menopause? Let me tell you below!

What is the reason for increased vaginal discharge in women during menopause?

During menopause, due to ovarian failure, the female body lacks estrogen, the reproductive organs shrink, and the secretion gradually becomes scarce or even completely lacks. If a woman has an increase in vaginal discharge during menopause, it may be due to pelvic inflammatory disease, senile vaginitis, cervical erosion, cervical cyst, uterine fibroids, etc., and she needs to go to the hospital outpatient clinic for further testing and diagnosis.

It may be senile vaginitis, which often occurs in women after menopause. However, it can also occur after bilateral oophorectomy or during breastfeeding. The clinical symptoms are excessive vaginal discharge, which is yellow watery or pus-like and has an odor. When the infection is more serious, there may be spotty vaginal bleeding, as well as downward pain and a burning sensation in the vagina. If the vestibular function and the mucosa around the urethral opening are invaded, frequent urination, urgency and pain during urination often occur. The main reason is due to ovarian failure, low or lack of estrogen levels in the body, decreased glycogen in the squamous epithelial cells of the vagina, alkaline pH in the vagina, and reduced ability to eliminate bacteria. In addition, because the vaginal mucosa shrinks, the epithelial cells are thin, and the blood circulation is insufficient, the resistance of the vagina is reduced, which is conducive to the invasion and reproduction of bacteria and causes inflammation and disease. In addition, my poor living habits and lack of nutrients, especially deficiency of B vitamins, may be related to the onset of the disease.

Leucorrhea treatment and care:

1. General Treatment

1. Under the premise of establishing a diagnosis, the most important thing in the treatment of physiological secretions is to address the primary symptoms or specific pathogens.

2. If the physiological secretions are caused by foreign objects, remove the foreign objects immediately and use antibiotics if necessary to prevent and treat secondary bacterial infection.

3. For sinuses existing in the vagina, urethra or duodenum, surgical removal is the best method of eradication. At the same time, certain antibiotics should be used in combination to prevent secondary bacterial infection.

4. If optical microscopy examination confirms the presence of Trichomonas infection, medication is a more common treatment method. Common drugs include ornidazole, metronidazole, etc.

2. Daily medical care:

1. Keep the vulva clean and wash it with warm water 2 to 3 times a day.

2. In order to avoid cross infection, be sure to prepare a special sink and towel to clean the vulva.

3. Change your underwear frequently. Washed clothes and pants do not need to be hung in a dark corner to dry, but should be exposed to the sun.

4. After defecation, wipe towards the back to avoid bringing residual feces or dirt from the anus into the female vagina.

5. Improve nutrition, eat more foods rich in protein, vitamins, and minerals, such as lean meat, eggs, vegetables, fruits, etc., to enhance immunity. If there is a lot of leucorrhea, and the color and properties change, or even have a strong odor, you should go to the hospital for examination and treatment immediately.
