How to judge whether the dog needs to be dewormed? Why does the dog still have fleas after deworming?

Dogs need to be dewormed regularly, mainly inside and outside the body. If a dog is infected with parasites and is not removed in time, it will have a great impact on the dog's health. So how do you judge whether a dog needs to be dewormed? Why do fleas still exist after deworming? Is it a problem with the medicine?

How to tell if your dog needs deworming

Dogs infected with parasites will become thin and may suffer from gastrointestinal discomfort such as vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, and some may develop fever, cough, itchy skin, and dull hair.

In addition, different types of parasites can also have different symptoms. For example, Toxoplasma gondii infection can cause fever, coughing, and difficulty breathing. If a pregnant cat or dog is infected, it may cause miscarriage. Hookworms can cause itching between the toes of puppies and can lead to severe acute anemia.

Why do dogs still have fleas after being dewormed?

Because fleas are very strong. Dogs can get fleas at any time when they play on the grass or come into contact with other small animals. Even if the dog does not leave the house, it may be infected with parasites. Humans are also carriers, and they will bring parasites and their eggs home through clothes and shoes, and indirectly infect dogs. So don't think that if the dog does not go out, there will be no fleas. There is still a high chance of infection.

How often should dogs be dewormed?

Dog deworming products are divided into internal deworming products and external deworming products. First of all, the deworming schedule is arranged. For oral deworming products, it is recommended that puppies should be dewormed once a month, and adult dogs should be dewormed once every three months. If adult dogs and puppies choose internal and external deworming products, they need to be dewormed once a month.

Secondly, the anthelmintic should be taken about 1 hour after eating according to body weight. Do not feed food within six hours after taking the anthelmintic, but you can drink water.
