Their disappearance is mainly because the space of floppy disks is too small: the capacity of a 3.5-inch floppy disk is only 1.44MB, and the capacity of a 5.25-inch floppy disk is only 1.2MB.

You can find that in the beginning, because the 5.25-inch B drive was larger in size and had less memory than the A drive, the 3.5-inch A drive survived for a while in the 1990s, but the B drive disappeared earlier.

However, with the widespread use of rewritable CDs, burners, USB flash drives, etc., A drives are becoming less and less suitable for our use, and now A drives have become history.
