Why can I take the long-term driver's license test again if my driver's license is revoked? Will I be downgraded after the points are deducted?

We often see reports of traffic accidents. The driver's license of the responsible party is usually revoked in serious accidents. In some cases, you can retake the test and get a driver's license after the license has been revoked for a certain number of years, but in other cases, it is not necessarily the case. So under what circumstances can you take the test again after your license has been revoked?

Why can I take the test again after my driver's license is revoked?

If a driver's license is revoked, you need to retake the test, and the number of years for which it is revoked varies depending on the circumstances.

1. If a person has his driver's license revoked according to the law due to drunk driving or driving under the influence, he can apply for a driver's license again after 5 years.

2. If a driver's license is revoked according to the law for driving a commercial vehicle while drunk, you can reapply for a driver's license after 10 years. If a major traffic accident or crime occurs while driving under the influence or while drunk, the law will hold the driver criminally liable, and the driver's license will be revoked by the traffic management department of the public security agency, and the driver will not be able to obtain a driver's license again for life. If a traffic accident occurs and the traffic management department of the public security agency revokes the driver's license, the driver will not be able to obtain a driver's license again for life.

3. In other cases, if the driver's license is revoked according to law, you can apply for a driver's license again after 2 years.

Will a long-term driver's license be downgraded after all the points are deducted?

If you hold a C license and do not deduct 12 points in each scoring cycle (one cycle is one year) within 6 years after the end of the internship period, you will be issued a ten-year valid driver's license after 6 years. If you do not deduct 12 points in each scoring cycle within 10 years, you will be issued a long-term valid driver's license after 10 years, which is valid until you reach 70 years old. After 70 years old, you need to be inspected once a year.

If you hold an A or B driver's license, you must have no points in each scoring cycle to be exempted from the annual inspection of this cycle. Even if you are deducted 1 or 2 points, you still need to participate in the annual inspection. If you are deducted 12 points in an A or B license cycle, you will also need to take a learning test, cancel the highest permitted vehicle type, and downgrade the permitted vehicle type by one level. For example, if you downgrade your A1 driver's license, if there is no A2 permitted vehicle type on your driver's license, then you can only downgrade it to A3, B1, or B2, and you must renew your license within 30 days, otherwise it will be cancelled.

However, extending the renewal time of a driver's license is by no means a one-time solution. It turns it into a "permanent driver's license", violates the bottom line of the use of the driver's license, and violates the "Traffic Law" and drives illegally. The driver's license will still be penalized, downgraded, and even revoked.

Can I cancel my driver's license in a different place?

The cancellation of a driver's license should be handled at the vehicle management office where the driver's license was issued. If you apply for a driver's license from another place, you should handle it at the place of application, which is the issuing authority marked on the driver's license.

The following materials are required to apply for cancellation of driver's license: 1. The original and a copy of the driver's ID card; 2. The driver's license; 3. A recent one-inch bareheaded color photo of the driver with a white background (the driver cannot wear uniforms, and those with corrected vision must wear glasses); 4. A "Motor Vehicle Driver's Physical Condition Certificate" issued by a county-level or military regiment-level medical institution or above (or hospitals that can do driver's license physical examinations are also acceptable). Drivers of automatic passenger cars for the disabled who are allowed to drive should submit a physical condition certificate issued by a specialized medical institution designated by provincial departments.
