Why is the wiper leaking? Why is the wiper blurry?

There is a nozzle on the wiper that can spray glass water, and then use the wiper to clean the windshield. Sometimes there will be water leakage, so what is the reason? What is the problem if the wiper can't clean it well?

What causes the wiper to leak?

1. Wiper water nozzle

The wiper nozzle is installed on the hood. When the wiper switch is turned to the spray position, the motor on the wiper spray bottle works, the spray pump builds up water pressure, and the glass cleaning fluid is sprayed out from the nozzle through the rubber hose. If there is a direct leak from this point, it proves that the nozzle is damaged. However, the direct leakage of the nozzle requires water pressure in the system, so the probability of damage is not high.

2. Rubber hose

The rubber hose is used to connect the watering can and the watering nozzle, and there is a plastic tee on the pipe. If the rubber hose joint has a small hole or is squeezed and damaged, water will leak directly from the small hole or damage when spraying. If the connection between the tee and the rubber hose is not sealed well, water leakage will also occur.

3. Watering can

The spray pot is usually installed under the right front fender to store glass cleaning fluid. If the pot body is damaged by impact, or the water pump seal ring on the pot body ages, it will cause water leakage when spraying.

Summary: If the wiper is leaking directly, you only need to check these three parts separately. Now many cars are equipped with rear window wipers, and the hose is generally connected from the cab to the rear windshield. If you need to remove the front and rear decorative panels to find the leak.

What's the matter with the windshield wiper?

If there is an oily layer on the windshield surface or the wiper blades are aging, the wipers will not wipe smoothly enough and will be blurry if they are not wiped clean. The simplest way is to use a sponge or cloth dipped in cleaning fluid or detergent, or go to a car beauty shop and use a glass oil film removal product to clean and wipe the windshield surface and wiper blades. Then rinse the windshield and wiper blades with clean water to see if there is any improvement.

If there is an oily layer on the surface of the windshield, or the wiper blades are aging and cannot be cleaned cleanly when used, it is recommended to go to the store for treatment in time, especially when driving on rainy days. If the wipers cannot clean cleanly, blurred vision will affect driving safety.

What to do if the wiper sprays water but cannot reach the glass

If it can spray out but not onto the glass, then it's a problem of water pressure and angle.

Let’s talk about water pressure first.

Dirt deposits on the impeller of the water spray kettle motor can cause insufficient water pressure; damaged or blocked water pipes can cause insufficient water pressure; clogged nozzles can cause insufficient water pressure.

Solution: Check if the water spray pipe is bent, and pierce the water spray port with a steel needle. If the dirt on the impeller cannot be cleaned, replace the water spray pot.

Let’s talk about angles.

The angle of the water nozzle is easy to adjust. Some cars can be adjusted with just fingers: pinch it with two fingers and move it up and down. Most cars cannot be adjusted by hand, and a steel needle needs to be inserted to drive the nozzle to rotate to a suitable angle. After adjustment, test spray until the angle is ideal.

If you are too lazy to do it yourself, the general car repairman will repair it according to the above steps. 4S shop may not do it, and it is very expensive to replace it.

Do not add ordinary water to the spray bottle, but add qualified special detergent, otherwise it will cause problems such as failure to spray and incorrect angle.
