Why some pregnant mothers can't feel fetal movement? Is it due to lack of oxygen?

Fetal movement indicates that the baby is moving in the mother's belly, and on the other hand, it also means that the baby is safe. However, not all mothers can clearly sense fetal movement, which is due to many factors. If the fetal movement is strong, you should also pay attention, so you should learn to count fetal movements.

Why some pregnant women can't feel fetal movement

How much amniotic fluid

Some mothers have more amniotic fluid, while some have less. For mothers with more amniotic fluid, the feeling is not so obvious because the amniotic fluid acts as a buffer. Therefore, for mothers with less amniotic fluid, the feeling is more obvious.

Abdominal wall thickness

This is similar to the amount of amniotic fluid. Mothers with thick abdominal walls will not feel the fetal movement very obviously, while mothers with thin abdominal walls will feel it deeper and more obviously.

Fat thickness

Some mothers have thicker fat, so the feeling is not very obvious, while some mothers have thinner fat, so the feeling is more obvious.

Fetal personality

Some fetuses are more active, rolling around in the mother's belly, making more noise, and the mother's fetal movement will be more obvious. Some babies are lazy and too lazy to move, so the fetal movement is less.

It is very important to count the baby's fetal movements during pregnancy. If you find that the baby's fetal movements are abnormal, it is best to go to the hospital for examination immediately to avoid any problems with the fetus.

Is the strong fetal movement due to lack of oxygen?

Lack of oxygen is just one of the manifestations, there are other reasons.

1. Hypoxia

If the fetus is suffering from hypoxia, it will also show symptoms of frequent fetal movements. As the degree of hypoxia deepens, the fetus will also experience changes in fetal heart rate, decreased fetal movements, or even disappearance.

2. Umbilical cord around the neck

If the fetal movement is rapid and then stops, then you should be alert to the umbilical cord wrapped around the neck. If the umbilical cord is wrapped too tightly, it will cause the fetus to suffer from hypoxia, so pregnant mothers with the umbilical cord wrapped around the neck should insist on counting the fetal movements every day.

3. Being stimulated by the outside world

If the pregnant mother's emotions fluctuate violently, or her abdomen is hit, stimulated by external sounds, if the pregnant mother is full, if the pregnant mother takes a bath, or interacts with the fetus, etc., it will cause more intense fetal movements.

How to count fetal movements?

Once fetal movements become frequent, it is best for pregnant mothers to go to the hospital to check the cause.

After the 28th week of pregnancy, you should count the fetal movements every day. Pregnant women can sit or lie on their side and place their hands lightly on the abdominal wall to feel the fetal movements.

Count for one hour each in the morning, noon and evening. Count continuous fetal movements as one. Add up the results of three times and multiply by 4. The result is the 12-hour fetal movement count. Pregnant mothers should take a small notebook to write it down. If you find that the fetal movement is suddenly much greater than the number of fetal movements in the same period recently, or the number of fetal movements suddenly decreases sharply, it should be regarded as abnormal and pregnant mothers need to pay attention.

Normally, the number of fetal movements is no less than 3-5 times per hour, and more than 30-40 times within 12 hours. Some fetuses move about 100 times in 12 hours.
