How to choose good winter jujube

The normal ripening time of winter jujube is mid-October. There must be something fishy about the winter jujube that is on the market before mid-October, so it is better not to buy them.

Naturally ripened fresh winter dates look fuller and more shiny, even reflective. About 1/3 of the peel is reddish brown, and there is no clear boundary between the green and red colors. If the reddish brown occupies too large an area, or the boundary between the green and red colors is clear, it is treated with saccharin water or ripening agents, so don't buy it. If the peel is green and dull, it is raw, so don't buy it.

Touch the winter jujube with your hand. If it feels smooth and hard, it is a good winter jujube. If it feels sticky or soft, it is a defective winter jujube, or it is a winter jujube soaked in saccharin water. If the peel feels too wet, it is a winter jujube soaked in water. This kind of winter jujube will rot soon after you buy it home, so don't buy it.

The final trick is to taste the winter dates. Normal, naturally ripened winter dates have the same sweetness inside and out, while winter dates soaked in saccharin water are sweet on the outside but not sweet or bitter on the inside.
