What to do if the inner thighs itch? Is this tinea cruris or eczema?

The inner thighs are itchy, with red spots, and after a while, the skin turns dark. Is it tinea cruris or eczema? How can we tell the difference and how to deal with it?

1. Tinea cruris causes itching on the inner thigh

Symptoms of tinea cruris: Itchy thighs, red spots, and pigmentation

Jock itch usually occurs near the genitals or anus, that is, near the inner thigh root. Jock itch is obvious, and after scratching, red spots with debris or small red bumps will appear.

As tinea cruris continues to develop, other small rashes may develop from the red spots or red bumps after scratching, and eventually even lead to skin ulcers. If tinea cruris gradually gets better, there will be obvious pigmentation, such as purple or black skin.

Causes of tinea cruris: fungal infection or infection

Tinea cruris is caused by fungal infection. This fungus likes to live in moist and dark skin, so it is often close to the reproductive organs. Tinea cruris fungi are generally transmitted through infection. There are two ways of transmission: one is self-transmission and the other is allotransmission.

Autologous transmission means that there is ringworm in other parts of the body, and if it accidentally touches the thigh root, the conditions are right, and the tinea cruris fungus will start to multiply directly. Heterologous transmission means that it is caused by infection from others, and the rate of transmission through sexual contact is relatively high.

Treatment for tinea cruris: topical medications and keeping it clean

The treatment of tinea cruris with topical medications is effective, but in order to eliminate the living conditions of tinea cruris, you can also take Chinese medicine that clears away heat and dampness. Before using topical medications, be sure to clean the affected area first, and then use the medication (it is best to avoid using hormone drugs).

While using medication, be sure to keep the affected area clean, wash your genitals and thighs every morning and evening, wear loose and breathable clothes, and keep the inside of your thighs dry.

2. Itching on the inner thigh caused by eczema

Symptoms of eczema: redness, exudation, unbearable itching

If eczema occurs on the inner thigh, it is easy to be confused with tinea cruris, but the itching sensation of eczema is more severe. Eczema also has pigmentation. The characteristics that distinguish it from tinea cruris are that eczema has more exudate and the erythema is composed of very small papules and blisters. In the later stage of eczema, there is also suppuration of the skin.

Causes of eczema: genetics, infection, medication

Some eczema patients have inherited the condition, but most eczema is caused by the environment. The unclean or irritating ingredients in the environment can make the skin sensitive, cause immune dysfunction, and cause a large number of fungi on the skin to multiply, which can cause eczema. And the usual diet and medicines, if they contain corresponding irritating ingredients, can also cause eczema.

Of course, as a kind of skin disease, mental and psychological factors can also cause eczema. All external or internal stimuli may become the cause of eczema.

Treatment of eczema: Traditional Chinese medicine is the best treatment

In the treatment of skin diseases such as eczema, TCM is more effective than Western medicine. Most TCM practitioners will trace the cause of eczema and prescribe the right medicine for different causes of eczema, both internally and externally. TCM external application can naturally eliminate skin inflammation and help the skin heal. It is best to avoid Western medicine products containing hormones.

At the same time, it is equally important to keep the skin clean and in a good mood, exercise moderately, and enhance the body's immunity. These are also necessary conditions for the treatment of eczema.
