Is Sedum easy to grow? How to plant Sedum with a high survival rate

Sedum is a common plant in China. It is very popular because of its high ornamental value and its effects of clearing away heat and detoxification, reducing swelling and pus, relieving pain and jaundice. Some people even grow Sedum at home for the convenience of use. So how can we plant Sedum with a high survival rate? Let's take a look.

Is Sedum easy to grow?

Sedum is a succulent plant that can survive in most soils, so it is very easy to grow. Keeping it in a well-lit place can make the plant bright in color and lush in branches and leaves. It is relatively drought-tolerant, so keep the soil dry and add fertilizer every month during the growing season. There are many ways to propagate it, including sowing, cuttings and division, and the survival rate is very high.

How to plant Sedum sedum with high survival rate

Seed treatment

Before planting Sedum, we need to germinate the seeds first, so that the germination rate of Sedum will be higher. First, we soak the seeds in warm water for a day and a night, then put the Sedum seeds on a soaked paper towel and seal it with plastic wrap, then poke a few small holes in the plastic wrap to increase air circulation, and the Sedum seeds will germinate in about a week.

Start cultivation

When we plant Sedum, it is best to choose the rainy season or cloudy days when the air humidity is relatively high. Place the germinated Sedum seeds in the prepared soil. The distance between each Sedum plant should be kept above 20 cm. Then cover the seedlings with a thin layer of soil and press it gently. After that, water it thoroughly.

Post-maintenance

After planting, we need to keep the soil moist, generally spraying water every two to three days. The Sedum seedlings will be able to resume normal growth in about three days. At this time, we can place the Sedum in an environment with scattered sunlight, but be careful not to make the light too strong, otherwise the Sedum seedlings will be sunburned.

Which month is the best for the survival rate of Sedum sedum?

Generally speaking, the planting time of Sedum is usually completed in spring and autumn. In some areas, it can be planted all year round, such as Yunnan, Guangdong, Guangxi and other provinces with higher temperatures in winter. If using seeds, it would be better to plant in April.
