How to grow Kirin Palm vigorously

1. The potting soil for Euphorbia tridentata can be made by mixing 1/3 each of leaf mold, coal slag and garden soil. When potting, you can add a little crushed solid fertilizer as base fertilizer.

2. Kylin palm likes light. After it is taken out of the house in early May, it should be placed under a shade shed for 7 to 10 days and then placed in a sunny place for maintenance. Insufficient light can easily cause abnormal stems to grow too long and become columnar stems. Especially during the growing season, it is necessary to ensure sufficient light and never place it indoors for viewing for a long time.

3. Kylin palm is not cold-resistant. Generally, it should be brought indoors when the first cold wave arrives before the frost falls. At the beginning, attention should be paid to indoor ventilation to allow it to gradually adapt to the indoor microclimate. Even if the weather is warm in winter, it should not be moved outdoors to bask in the sun.

4. Kylin palm is relatively drought-resistant, so it is better to water it dry than wet. When the soil in the pot is dry, hard and white, and a crisp sound is heard when knocking on the pot wall, water it thoroughly. In winter, watering should be less than usual. When the room temperature is 15-18℃, water it thoroughly once every 10 days or so.

5. Fertilization: Apply 15% fully decomposed alum fertilizer water once a month during the growing season. Avoid using raw fertilizer or concentrated fertilizer when applying fertilizer, otherwise it will easily cause root rot and leaf fall. Stop fertilizing during winter dormancy, and gradually resume normal fertilization level when growth begins in the following spring. Avoid using too high a concentration of nutrient solution, which will cause root rot and death in severe cases.
