Why are the new leaves of Daphne odora turning yellow? How to solve the problem of the new leaves of Daphne odora turning yellow

Daphne odora is a common flower in life. It is deeply loved by people because of its diverse varieties and high ornamental value. So what is the reason for the yellowing of the new leaves of Daphne odora? How to solve the problem of yellowing of the new leaves of Daphne odora? Let's take a look.

Why are the new leaves of Daphne koreana turning yellow?

1. The roots of Daphne koreana are fleshy roots. Once watered too much, it is easy to cause the fleshy roots to be damaged and rotten. It will first appear on the new leaves, and the tender leaves will turn yellow and fall off, and then gradually the whole plant will turn yellow.

2. Daphne koreana likes sunlight. If it is usually placed in a shaded place for maintenance, it is easy to cause the leaves to turn yellow. The lack of photosynthesis and yellow leaves due to malnutrition will cause the leaves to turn yellow.

How to solve the problem of yellowing new leaves of Daphne koreana

First, insufficient fertilization

The flowering period of Daphne odora is as long as two months, and it has many flowers, with a cluster of flowers reaching dozens. The two-month flowering period consumes a lot of nutrients. After the flowers bloom, generally in February or March, the temperature begins to warm up, and Daphne odora begins to enter the growth period. It is necessary to fertilize in time to replenish the nutrients consumed by flowering.

The first time you fertilize it, you should use a compound fertilizer with complete nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium elements to fully supplement its nutrition. The fertilizer used must be thin fertilizer, because its roots are fleshy roots, and too concentrated fertilizer can easily cause root burn.

Second, overwatering

The root of Daphne koreana is fleshy, and its stem is also a bit fleshy, similar to the plants of Crassulaceae. Its leaves are slightly waxy, and its evaporation capacity is not strong, so when watering it, you must not water it unless it is dry, and water it thoroughly when you do.

Third, insufficient light. Daphne prefers a semi-shaded environment. However, it must be given sufficient light in spring, autumn and winter. In summer, it needs proper shade because it is more afraid of heat. Daphne can be placed in a semi-shaded environment for maintenance, and the pot soil should be thoroughly watered when it is dry. If fertilizer is added in time, it will grow very fast in spring and autumn.

How to fertilize Daphne koreana

1. Winter

In winter, you should apply enough base fertilizer, especially concentrated fertilizer. Decomposed organic fertilizer is better. Base fertilizer is very important and it affects the growth in the next year.

2. Spring

In spring, apply 2 to 3 times of decomposed cake fertilizer water. Nitrogen and potassium fertilizers should be applied mainly in spring. The fertilizer water should not be concentrated. Fertilizer should be applied frequently but in small amounts. Fertilizer should be applied in the morning and evening. Fertilizer should not be applied at noon.

3. Summer

Stop applying fertilizer during the dog days of summer to avoid burning the roots. No fertilizer is needed in the high temperatures of summer, just do a good job of cooling and moisturizing.

4. Autumn

In autumn, apply thin fertilizers frequently until the flower buds bloom. Fertilization in autumn mainly consists of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. After the flower buds are formed, you can spray the branches and leaves with potassium dihydrogen phosphate for foliar fertilization, but the fertilizer water must be sprayed on the back of the leaves to improve the fertilizer efficiency and promote lush flowering and leaf growth.
