How to make cactus bloom more

Pot soil

Cactus likes loose, breathable sandy soil. Usually, cactus can be planted in granular soil, accounting for half or 60% of the pot soil, and then mixed with some nutrient soil to make the soil very loose and breathable. After watering, water will seep directly from the bottom of the pot and will not stagnate in the pot. If it is planted in airtight soil, the soil will stagnate slightly, which will easily damage the capillary roots of the cactus. Then the cactus will rot easily after watering, and then the whole ball will rot.

Watering

We all know that cacti are more tolerant to drought, and drought tolerance is maintained by the nutrients in their spheres. If the spheres are not watered for a long time, the cactus spheres will become thin, not to mention flowering. Watering is essential, and watering should be done thoroughly when the soil is dry. This will enable the spheres to grow rapidly, absorb more nutrients, and be conducive to flowering.

The original growing environment of cactus is some desert areas with sufficient light. When we plant it at home on a daily basis, we must give it the most abundant light, preferably all-day sunlight, to help the cactus bloom.

Fertilization

If you want the cactus to bloom, you can fertilize it with some water-soluble fertilizers that can't be used for watering. This does not damage the root system, absorbs quickly, and can be applied once a month or twice, which is beneficial to the flowering of the cactus.

How to plant a small cactus in a pot

1. Root pruning: For the newly purchased cactus, trim the old and dead roots and retain the strong root system so that it can better absorb nutrients.

2. Choose a pot. The pot should not be too big, about the same size as the cactus will do. If it is too big, the water cannot be drained in time, making the soil moist for a long time and easily causing root rot. You can choose a coarse ceramic pot or a purple clay pot with strong air permeability.

3. Pot soil. Cactus has no special requirements for soil. It should be loose and breathable. Ordinary garden soil with some particles can be used. The particles can be larger to increase drainage.

4. When placing the cactus in the pot, be careful not to hurt your hands. For small cacti, you can use chopsticks to hold them in the pot;

5. Watering: If you use wet soil for potting, you don’t need to water it. If you use dry soil, you can water it to keep it moist, and then put it in a ventilated and cool place. Wait until new roots grow before watering it. Be careful not to spray water on the cactus. Don’t water it too often. Water it only when the soil is very dry.

6. Light. The newly potted cactus should be kept away from direct sunlight as much as possible, as this will affect the rooting. Keep it in a well-ventilated place with diffused light for a while, and then put it in the sun. Generally, the cactus needs 4 hours of light a day. In summer, pay attention to shade, and in winter, keep the temperature above 5 degrees Celsius.

Which cacti are easy to bloom

Some species without thorns, such as the red flower jade, star dou, and Luanfeng jade, can bloom. There is no cactus that does not bloom. Including the golden tiger, it also blooms. However, the golden tiger needs to be grown very large to bloom. It must grow to 20-30 cm before it can bloom. It also needs to grow to half a meter long or very large before it will bloom.

Cactus flowers bloom beautifully and have a relatively long flowering period. Some varieties can bloom for five to seven days, but some varieties bloom for one day and wither the next day.
