What are the precautions after hysterectomy?

After a woman has a hysterectomy, she is very likely to suffer from premature ovarian failure and ovarian dysfunction. Therefore, after the operation, she should pay more attention to care, eat a scientific diet, and supplement with more high-protein and high-fiber foods to promote wound healing.

1. Hysterectomy not only destroys the dynamic endocrine balance between the uterus and ovaries before menopause, but also causes ovarian function decline. Since a considerable part of the blood supply to the ovaries comes from the ascending branches of the uterine arteries, although hysterectomy in premenopausal women tries to preserve ovarian tissue, the ligation of adjacent blood vessels will still affect the blood supply to the ovaries, thereby reducing ovarian function and causing a sudden drop in serum estrogen levels. There is a lack of a gradual adaptation process, so menopausal symptoms occur significantly earlier.

2. Postoperative Care

1. Encourage more turning over or bedside activities to promote the discharge of gas in the body and prevent bloating.

2. Keep the wound clean and dry. If there is exudate, inform the nursing staff immediately to change the gauze.

3. If you feel pain in the wound, you can tell the nursing staff and they can give you painkillers according to the doctor's orders.

4. After the gas is discharged, you can eat a light diet, such as white porridge and green vegetables. Do not eat gas-producing foods to prevent bloating, such as milk and beans.

5. The catheter can be removed on the second day after the operation, and the patient should be able to urinate within 5 hours.

6. Dietary recommendations: After passing gas, you can take high-protein, high-iron, high-fiber foods, such as cherries, grapes, fish soup, vegetables, etc., to prevent constipation and promote wound healing.

7. When getting out of bed to move around, avoid using abdominal pressure, such as bending over, squatting, climbing stairs, riding a motorcycle, or riding a bicycle, which may cause pain to the wound.

8. Wipe from front to back after using the toilet to avoid infection.
