Why is the fishing line bent?

At present, the fishing lines we use more are made of nylon, carbon and PE, and their performance varies according to the material. No matter what kind of fishing line, it has a certain degree of ductility and will extend to varying degrees under the action of external force. In this process, due to the irregularity of extension, the material structure of the fishing line becomes irregular and will become bent. This is the principle of fishing line bending. According to this principle, the thinner the sub-line, the less tension it can withstand, and it is relatively easier to bend.

What to do if the sub-line bends when fishing

First, try to straighten it with force.

For nylon sub-lines, when fishing in flowing water, the bait may rotate due to the thrust of the water, which will cause the sub-line to bend. This is a common phenomenon with long sub-lines. In this case, we can wrap the fishhook with something like a towel, then hold the lead seat with one hand and the part below the hook tip with the other hand, and pull it hard to both sides until the sub-line is straightened.

Second, remove the bent part of the sub-line.

Sometimes, when you encounter underwater obstacles such as tree branches and water plants, the sub-line may bend in the process of trying to get rid of the fishing gear. It is also possible that a small section of the fishing line above the hook will be worn out in the process of pulling hard. To be on the safe side, it is best to cut off this small section of the fishing line and re-tie the hook.

Third, replace the entire sub-line.

When fishing, due to frequent fishing and playing with fish, the naturally drooping sub-line will appear bent and uneven. In order to prevent the line from breaking and the fish from escaping when catching a big fish next time, it is necessary to replace the old sub-line that has been used many times with a new fishing group.

Does bending the fishing line have any effect?
