If it is spring, autumn or summer, you need to water it thoroughly after repotting. As long as the temperature is not low, you can water it more, which is also called rooting water. After watering, place it in a ventilated and diffused light place, away from strong sunlight, and leave it for a week.

If you change the pot in winter or when the temperature is relatively low (although it is not recommended to change the pot at this time, it is better to bring some original soil with you, but just change it), if the soil is wet, you don’t need to water it again, especially in cold and humid rainy weather, you should not water it too much. It is easy to turn yellow and rot.

For drought-tolerant plants like cactus, snake plant, and succulents, if the soil is relatively wet when you repot them, you don’t need to water them again after changing the soil. The moisture in the soil is enough for their growth. Wait until the soil becomes dry before watering them again.

How to plant peony in a pot

First, prepare the pot soil before transplanting. The flower pot must be larger. If it is too small, the soil should be mixed with leaf mold, garden soil, river sand, etc. You can also add a little organic fertilizer to the bottom. Prune the peony before transplanting, and the survival rate will be higher.

Second, the best time to transplant is September or October. Water thoroughly after potting and place in semi-shade to slow down the growth. After normal management, place in a sunny place to ensure that it has sufficient sunlight. Loosen the soil frequently during the growth period and apply compound fertilizer every half a month or so. Do not fertilize the newly potted peony, especially avoid using concentrated fertilizer, otherwise the fleshy roots will mold and rot.

Third, summer maintenance requires timely shading, and attention should be paid to the hot and dry air. Not only should the soil be well drained, but water should be sprayed in time to cool it down and increase the air humidity.

Fourth, for potted peonies, cut off the withered branches and leaves after the frost falls to prevent the breeding of diseases and insects. There is no need to move them indoors during the winter. Place them on the balcony or under the eaves in a sunny place. The soil in the pot should not be too dry. Water when it is completely dry, and do not water when it is not dry.

Fifth, timely prevention and control of diseases and insect pests. The prevention and control method is to spray Bordeaux liquid once or twice a month from April to autumn. Some aphids and spider mites can be killed with dimethoate.

How to grow peonies at home

1. Soil

It does not have high requirements for soil and can be grown well in ordinary garden soil. It is recommended to use peat soil for home cultivation, which is relatively light and nutritious.

Peonies need plenty of sunlight. Insufficient sunlight will not only cause them to grow too tall, but will also hang if you are not careful.

3. Temperature

It is extremely cold-resistant and cannot be grown indoors in the north. If the temperature is not low enough when grown indoors, it will not be able to springharden, which would be harmful to it.

4. Watering

Still adhere to the principle of watering when the soil is dry and wait until the soil is completely dry before watering.

5. Fertilization

After winter vernalization, the peony will grow new leaves in the spring, and it needs to be fertilized heavily at this time. You can dig a few small holes in the pot and pour chicken manure and other farmyard manure into it. You can also dilute liquid fertilizer and water the flowers every week. After fertilization, the peony usually blooms around April.
