When women have urinary tract infection, the symptoms are various. Female patients with cystitis often have symptoms of frequent urination and urgency, and cannot hold urine. Some patients also have symptoms of painful urination, and sometimes hematuria. A very small number of patients will have symptoms of low fever and back pain.

The clinical symptoms of female patients with subacute pyelonephritis include inability to hold urine, frequent urination, and low fever. Female patients with chronic pyelonephritis will show frequent urination at night and will be prone to dehydration. Some patients will also develop hypertension, and a very small number of patients will also show renal colic.

Some female patients with urinary tract infection will also experience night sweats and decreased appetite. Some patients will also have proteinuria and even symptoms of renal and perirenal abscesses. If the renal and perirenal cysts are not drained or treated in time, other complications may occur.
