Some symptoms of cervical relaxation are actually not obvious from the outside and can only be detected through examination with some instruments. There are other ways to determine cervical relaxation, such as medical history. If you have had an abortion to dilate the cervix, or given birth, etc., you may have cervical relaxation. Generally, cervical relaxation does not affect the health of the body, and proper conditioning is sufficient. Under normal conditions, the cervical canal connected to the lower uterine cavity is fusiform, and the end connected to the uterine cavity is called the internal cervical os, which has a widening effect and can cause the internal cervical os to close and contract. Once pregnancy occurs, the internal os of the cervix can prevent the fetus and amniotic sac, which are growing larger and heavier in the uterine cavity, from slipping out of the cervical os. However, the following situations can cause cervical relaxation, which is medically known as incomplete closure of the internal cervical os: ⑴ A history of vaginal delivery, which caused severe cervical laceration; (2) The cervical dilation during artificial abortion is too fast and too violent; ⑶ The patient has undergone cervical conization, which has caused the loss of the sphincter function of the internal cervical os; ⑷A smaller number is due to cervical hypoplasia. What are the causes of cervical relaxation? The causes of cervical relaxation can be divided into two categories: congenital and acquired. Congenital cervical relaxation is caused by the mother taking certain drugs or other reasons during pregnancy, which leads to incomplete development of the female uterus; acquired cervical relaxation is caused by birth trauma, too many curettages or frequent perineal examinations. In addition, a short cervix may also be one of the causes of cervical relaxation. Reports have shown that when the cervix is shorter during ultrasound examination, the chance of miscarriage or premature birth will increase greatly. However, it is possible to safely pass the pregnancy period and give birth smoothly. Moreover, the length of the cervix is affected by many factors, such as the ratio of cervical muscle and fiber. During pregnancy, as the uterus grows and stretches into the abdominal cavity, it may also cause the cervix to become shorter. How do we diagnose a relaxed cervix? The uterine dilation test is the most reliable diagnostic technique for diagnosing relaxation of the internal cervical os. During the non-menstrual and non-pregnant period, use a No. 8 dilator in decreasing order to try to dilate the cervix. Normal standard: A No. 5 dilator cannot pass freely through the internal cervical os. Dynamic digital hysterosalpingography can indirectly understand the shape and width of the internal cervical os. After calibration, the normal width is less than 4mm. Its diagnostic significance is inferior to that of the uterine dilation test. |
