Brown vaginal discharge during pregnancy

Brown vaginal discharge during pregnancy

Pregnancy is a very difficult thing, but also an extremely happy thing. When a little life settles down in the belly, it feels very wonderful to immediately become a mother. However, many women find that their female secretions during pregnancy are dark brown. Many people don’t know why this is the case. So what is the reason for brown secretions during pregnancy? What should I do if I notice brown discharge?

1. What is the reason for brown discharge during pregnancy?

When women have brown discharge during pregnancy, the main reasons for this are the following:

Ectopic pregnancy: Ectopic pregnancy usually causes vaginal bleeding about 40 days after menstruation, often accompanied by dull pain, distension, and heaviness in the lower abdomen. At this time, a urine pregnancy test may be positive, but color ultrasound examination of the uterine cavity will not reveal the gestational sac, and abnormal lumps may usually be found in the location of the fallopian tubes on both sides.

Vaginal yeast infection: This type of infection can easily lead to excessive vaginal discharge, accompanied by a foul odor, and itching of the private parts. It is widely believed that this type of infection is a type of sexually transmitted disease, which is very easy to be transmitted between lovers. During treatment, the sexual partner must be treated at the same time to avoid cross infection and fully recover.

Threatened abortion: The specific manifestations are pregnancy bleeding and abdominal pain in the early stages of pregnancy. Generally, during the threatened abortion stage, vaginal bleeding is less and abdominal pain is mild. As long as there is no abnormality in the development of the embryo, the bleeding will stop after tocolysis treatment and you will be able to become pregnant again.

Menstruation: It may be a symptom of light menstruation during pregnancy.

2. Common causes of brown discharge in early pregnancy

1. Implantation bleeding

It's a fact that one in four pregnant women experience light vaginal bleeding (also called interstitial bleeding) during the first week of pregnancy. At this time, the dark brown secretion is generally considered normal. However, if bleeding increases, you need to tell your doctor right away.
