Types and pictures of IUDs

The contraceptive ring is a contraceptive device placed in the uterus. Because the devices used in the early stages were mostly ring-shaped, they are generally called contraceptive rings, also known as birth control rings, or IUDs. This kind of instrument is very important in modern life. It is the guarantee that people can enjoy happiness without being affected. Let's discuss the types and pictures of contraceptive rings below.

Generally made of stainless steel, plastic, silicone and other materials, the IUD without medicine is called an inert IUD. If the IUD is added with estrogen or copper, it can improve the actual effect of contraception, which is called medicated or specific IUD. It is one of the types of contraceptive surgical instruments widely used in my country. There are many types of IUDs. The most common ones in China include single metal rings, peach rings, mixed rings, contraceptive rings, T-shaped rings, etc.

Common types

A contraceptive ring without medicine is called an inert contraceptive ring. If the contraceptive ring is added with estrogen or copper, it can improve the actual effect of contraception and is called a medicated or specific contraceptive ring.

Inert contraceptive ring: made of stainless steel wire or plastic, silicone rubber, such as metal single ring, peach ring and stainless steel plate uterine ring.

Copper IUD: It is the most commonly used type of intrauterine device, which uses the destructive effect of copper on sperm or sperm-egg combination to improve the effectiveness of contraception.

Contraceptive ring that releases estrogen: The estrogen contained in the contraceptive ring is released slowly and steadily into the uterus, which improves the effectiveness of contraception and can significantly reduce bleeding.

Contraceptive ring that releases hemostatic drugs: can effectively control the increase in menstrual volume after the placement of the contraceptive ring.

The foreign body effect of the IUD can cause asexual inflammation of the uterine wall, thereby affecting the implantation of the embryo formed by the combination of sperm and egg. In addition to the above functions, the copper-containing IUD also releases iodine ions, which have a destructive effect on sperm and embryos.

The contraceptive ring containing estrogen can release a small amount of estrogen into the uterine cavity for a long time, causing the uterine wall to shrink and facilitating embryo implantation. These two aspects of function further enhance the contraceptive effect of the special contraceptive ring.
