What does a positive TCT mean?

What does tct mean? Nowadays, medicine is becoming more and more developed, and we are not familiar with many professional terms. I think many people have heard of TCT examination in daily life, so do you know what TCT means? Let’s master it today.

1. What does TCT mean?

TCT is the general name for the new Prednisone liquid-based cytology test. Thinprep cytologic test, also known as TCT or Thinprep TCT. This is a liquid-based cytology test product that was certified by the FDA in 1996 by the British company Hologic. It was officially introduced into my country in 1999. More than 60 million women around the world undergo this test every year.

Thinprep and ThinPrep are trademarks of Inspur Enterprises and Hologic. It is also the most widely used cervical disease screening technology in the world. According to international reference reports, the ThinPrep TCT can not only detect cervical cancer 100%, but also has a 23.3% higher diagnosis rate for precancerous lesions than traditional Papanicolaou acid-fast staining, making it the most reliable cytological examination method for clinicians.

2. TCT inspection can be divided into three stages

The first step: TCT chromatographic fluid-based cytology test: First, the most advanced chromatographic fluid-based cytology technology (TCT) is used to observe cervical cells under a microscope to check whether there are any abnormalities in the cervical cells.

The second step: electronic colposcopy: after TCT chromatographic fluid-based cytology test, if abnormalities are found in cervical cells, a colposcopy is required.

The third step: pathophysiological examination: If any abnormality is found during colposcopy, a puncture biopsy should be taken under the guidance of special coloring.

3. What items does TCT inspection include?

3.1. Colposcopy: It can enlarge the surface by 10-40 times, and has certain clinical medical application value for the investigation and early diagnosis of cancer.

3.2. Endoscopic examination: The most common gynecological surgeries at this stage are hysteroscopy and laparoscopy, which have the characteristics of less pain for patients, image-based examination, and high diagnostic accuracy.

3.3. Acid-fast staining: It is an important method for early detection of carcinoma. It is simple, easy and reliable.

3.4. Biopsy: For abnormal diseased sites, a small amount of tissue can be used for pathological examination using different methods. This is currently the most reliable and accurate method for diagnosing cancer tumors.

3.5. B-ultrasound: The examination is simple and easy, non-invasive, can be performed repeatedly, and has a high diagnostic accuracy rate.

Is it serious if the gynecological tct is positive?

A positive cervical TCT test does not necessarily mean that you have cervical disease or cervical cancer, so the result may not be serious. If the TCT result is only an atypical squamous epithelial cell and HPV is negative, you can temporarily observe and come back for a follow-up visit after half a year or a year. The most common manifestations may be cervicitis or transient atypical manifestations. If the combined HPV test is positive, a colposcopy is recommended; if the TCT result is a low-grade squamous cell lesion or higher, a referral for a colposcopy is also recommended, and whether a cervical puncture biopsy is necessary is determined based on the results of the colposcopy. Pathological results are the gold standard for diagnosing cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is a preventable and treatable disease and its onset is divided into stages. Therefore, it is recommended to conduct regular cervical cancer screening for women who have had sexual activities and women over 21 years old.
