How is menopause determined?

How to know if a woman has reached menopause? Menopause refers to the decline of a woman's ovaries and the absence of menstruation. It is a common physiological phenomenon. There is also artificial menopause caused by some surgeries or treatments, such as surgical removal of both uterus and ovaries. Many women are not sure how to tell whether they are in menopause. Let's take a look at the general criteria for identifying menopause.

1. Infrequent menstruation

It means that the interval between menstrual cycles is too long. The normal menstrual cycle is about 20 to 30 days. If the interval between menstrual cycles is two to three months or longer, it may be due to ovarian weakness and may develop into menopause.

2. Disruption of menstrual cycle

The normal menstrual cycle changes to regular vaginal bleeding, and sometimes the bleeding during the menstrual period increases or persists, which may last for one to two months, and there is also a lot of vaginal bleeding. Postmenopausal women may also develop anemia, dark yellow face, and may also have symptoms such as palpitations and chest tightness. They need to undergo relevant examinations to rule out vaginal bleeding caused by tumors. Women over 40 years old need a comprehensive examination or uterine wall biopsy. Finally, the most common problem is menopausal menstrual disorder, with about 63.8% of women experiencing menstrual cycle disorder.

3. Sudden menopause

Some women had normal menstrual cycles or periods in the past, but suddenly went into menopause. Some women had normal menstrual cycles, but their menstrual flow gradually decreased for a few times, and then suddenly stopped at the last menstrual cycle. According to statistics from relevant reports, an observation of menopausal women found that sudden menopause accounted for 14.1%. In addition, some women may experience abnormal uterine bleeding for two to four weeks after a period of amenorrhea. The amount of bleeding may be small, and the duration is related to the effects of estrogen.

The above content is to introduce to everyone the common symptoms of menopause. Of course, if you want to know more clearly whether you have menopause, it is best to go to the hospital for a physical examination. Doctors usually combine medical history and relevant examinations to make a diagnosis. For example, women with a short menopausal period must undergo a pelvic examination.
