Illustration of anterior placenta and placenta previa

During pregnancy, B-ultrasound is used to check all conditions during pregnancy, and the doctor will tell you the location of the embryo. Many mothers are not clear about the difference between the anterior placenta and placenta previa. Placenta previa occurs in the late pregnancy and may cause abnormal uterine bleeding. Let's take a closer look.

First of all, we must understand that there is an umbilical cord connecting the embryo and the fetus. The embryo is attached to the uterus, but the attachment site may be different for everyone.

When the embryo is attached to this side of the belly, it is called the anterior placenta.

When the embryo adheres to the side closer to the back of the chair, it is called the posterior wall of the placenta.

When the embryo is attached to the side of the human body, it is called the embryonic wall, or more clearly divided into left and right walls.

These three conditions are all normal. Generally, the belly of a mother with anterior placenta will appear larger, and the belly of a mother with posterior placenta will appear relatively smaller.

What does placenta previa mean?

Placenta previa means that part or all of the embryonic tissue covers the cervical opening.

Because the cervix will dilate before delivery, and the fetus must be delivered from the cervix through the vagina, placenta previa is extremely dangerous for natural delivery and is prone to internal bleeding. Therefore, in order to avoid this risk, please enter a cesarean section.

If a pregnant mother is diagnosed with placenta previa, she should pay attention to:

1. Reduce activity and rest in bed. It is best for pregnant women to sleep on their left side. If you experience abdominal pain, bleeding or other discomfort, seek medical attention immediately.

2. Avoid activities that increase abdominal pressure, such as straining to defecate, coughing frequently, squatting, etc., avoid stimulating the abdomen with force, and keep a brisk pace when changing positions.

3. Keep the vulva clean, place a sanitary cleaning pad on the vulva, and change underwear frequently to prevent infection.
