Where does gout first hurt in women?

Gout has a genetic history. At present, the probability of men and women suffering from gout is more than 95% for men and only 5% for women. But it does not rule out that women are more likely to suffer from gout. So where does gout usually hurt when a woman has an attack?

Boys are more likely to suffer from gout than girls, with the ratio of male to female incidence being 20:1. Moreover, women basically suffer from gout after menopause, which may be related to changes in ovarian changes and estrogen metabolism. It is one of the causes of gout.

Gout attacks in women are similar to those in men, and usually occur in the big toe joint, knee joint, kneecap, etc. There are cases of chronic gout in patients with gout affecting the finger joints and even the soft tissue of the auricle. Acute gout causes redness, swelling, heat, and severe pain at the site of onset, usually occurring at midnight and waking people from sleep. In the early stage of gout, the disease often occurs in the lower limbs.

Characteristics of gout attacks: redness, swelling, heat and pain in the foot joints occur suddenly. People who seemed healthy and had no illness may suddenly be unable to walk or wear shoes due to the pain. In other words, this type of pain is the worst pain encountered in a lifetime. People will feel it 1 to 12 hours before the onset of the disease, but severe pain will occur as soon as the feeling expires, and the pain intensity will increase every second and reach a peak within 24 hours. Then the pain will gradually subside. If it can be tolerated, the pain will naturally disappear even without treatment. And usually there are no symptoms at all, which can be said to be its advantage and disadvantage. The advantage is that the pain will only last about a week at most, and everything else is the same as normal people. Moreover, if treated properly, the symptoms will disappear in one or two days. The disadvantage is that due to the lack of symptoms, it is often neglected and the treatment time is delayed.

Therefore, there are two purposes for gout patients to receive treatment: one is to prevent gout attacks so that they can live a normal life; the other is to prevent complications, especially kidney, heart and cerebrovascular diseases. Under normal circumstances, gout treatment depends on the condition of the disease. If it is a subacute disease, the first priority is to deal with the discomfort, so analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs are usually necessary, but this only relieves the patient's pain. The most important thing is that patients must continue to use blood acid-lowering drugs to control blood uric acid levels, regularly track the results, and prevent the recurrence of gout and some complications.

Gout is very harmful to female patients, so timely treatment is important. You should pay more attention to prevention in daily life and seek treatment in time once you get sick to avoid serious harm.
