The spleen caused by different causes is different in color. Generally, the spleen caused by acute infection is softer in color, while the spleen caused by chronic infection is uneven in surface, and generally has a fuller feeling than intractable splenomegaly. Cystic swelling also has a cystic feel, and the surface is often uneven.

Splenomegaly can also cause patients to develop anemia, jaundice and other symptoms. Splenomegaly caused by malignant lymphoma is often accompanied by enlargement of the liver and lymph nodes. Chronic viral hepatitis or cirrhosis can cause liver disease appearance and even symptoms such as spider nevi. Splenomegaly caused by typhoid fever and sepsis is often accompanied by various rashes. Edema, ascites and cardiac dilatation also often occur during the course of splenomegaly.
