Brain tumor is a disease that occurs in the nervous system. It is extremely easy to worsen and therefore poses a great threat to death. Therefore, it is very necessary for patients to understand and discover symptoms as early as possible. So what are the specific symptoms of brain tumors? 1. Deformation of the eye appearance The eyes are unable to look outward, including drooping eyelids and bulging eyeballs. This is because the cranial nerves responsible for eye movement are damaged. The problem lies in the brain rather than the eyes. 2. Vision gradually blurs and field of vision gradually narrows This is because brain tumors cause increased intracranial pressure, compressing the optic nerve, causing blurred vision and making things seem hazy and unreal. As for the loss of vision, it is mostly on the sides, as if covered by a curtain. A small number of elderly patients with poor eyesight did not see improvement in their vision after cataract surgery, also because of brain tumors. 3. Unilateral hearing loss First, the balance and auditory nerves (eighth cranial nerve) are compressed, causing paroxysmal tinnitus, gradual deterioration of hearing, and possible numbness of the face on the same side. Then, the trigeminal nerve (fifth cranial nerve) responsible for facial sensation and the glossopharyngeal nerve (eleventh cranial nerve) responsible for swallowing are compressed in the brainstem, causing difficulty in swallowing, unstable gait, and even blurred vision. These are typical symptoms caused by acoustic neuroma. 4. Unilateral limb numbness or weakness Symptoms are similar to those of a stroke, but they are not as sudden as those of a stroke and are more gradual. This is caused by compression of the pyramidal tract system in the brain, which is responsible for motor function. 5. Dysphagia and unsteady gait When swallowing food (especially liquids), the patient often chokes, has a hoarse voice and is unable to speak loudly, has tight lower limbs and is unable to take big steps, and is prone to falling. 6. Hormone Abnormalities Young women may experience unexplained amenorrhea and excessive milk secretion; their hands, feet, nose and chin may gradually become larger and their shoes may no longer fit them; they may have a moon face, buffalo shoulders, an enlarged body and thin limbs. These may all be caused by abnormal hormone secretion from a pituitary adenoma. |
