Brown discharge after 3 months of pregnancy

Brown discharge after 3 months of pregnancy

Some women often find that their bodies always secrete dark brown substances after they become pregnant. This makes many pregnant women worry whether there is something wrong with their bodies. If they find this phenomenon, they should seek medical attention in time. The appearance of brown discharge after pregnancy is generally considered to be due to abnormal fetal development, cervical abnormalities, uterine wall shedding and other reasons. For the sake of human health, in addition to maintaining a happy mood, the most important thing is to go to the hospital for regular physical examinations to avoid serious harm.

What is the reason for brown discharge after three months of pregnancy? Common causes include the following:

1. Ectopic pregnancy

Ectopic pregnancy means that the sperm and egg have combined, but have not swam into the uterus to implant the embryo, or have swam back and failed to successfully implant the embryo. This is called "hidden abortion." Generally, in the case of miscarriage within 5 weeks of pregnancy, HCG in the blood can be detected to be higher than the standard value or the urine pregnancy test is positive, but the gestational sac cannot be seen during the color Doppler ultrasound examination. This is also called "subclinical miscarriage." Patients usually have no other symptoms, just like menstruation, so they are often ignored.

2. Abnormalities in embryonic development

If the baby develops abnormally, it will miscarry, most of which are due to chromosomal abnormalities. Data show that 50-60% of cases of miscarriage or fetal arrest during early pregnancy are due to chromosomal abnormalities. Experts suggest that if brown discharge is found, one should take it easy and not try to maintain the pregnancy if there are any abnormalities or diseases in the genitals such as the cervix. Otherwise, there will be bigger problems in the later stages of pregnancy.

3. Abnormalities in the cervix

The most common cervical erosion is that if brown discharge appears the next day after having sex (many people do not know they are pregnant), cervical erosion should be considered. Secondly, cervical polyps can also cause bleeding, and the bleeding will continue. More attention should be paid to decidual polyps, which are polyps unique to pregnancy and are more prone to bleeding than cervical polyps and will continue to bleed until the middle of pregnancy. This type of polyp cannot be removed surgically, otherwise it will cause miscarriage or continuous bleeding. Therefore, if you have brown discharge during early pregnancy, go to the obstetrics and gynecology department to check your cervix first.

In cases of malformations such as double uterus or rudimentary horn uterus, after a normal uterine pregnancy, the abnormal uterine wall will thicken and cause bleeding. Therefore, color Doppler ultrasound examination is essential for bleeding in early pregnancy.

4. The uterine wall falls off

Due to individual differences and other reasons, some women's uterus and ovaries secrete relatively low levels of estrogen, especially progesterone, after pregnancy, causing a small part of the uterine wall to continue to fall off. Therefore, these women will still have their periods after pregnancy, but the amount of menstruation is much less than the normal stage. Until three months after pregnancy, the embryo is produced, and the female hormones and estrogen in the woman's body remain at a relatively high level. At this time, the uterine wall no longer falls off, and the menstrual period no longer comes.

5. Ectopic pregnancy

It refers to the abnormal pregnancy process in which the fertilized egg implants and develops outside the uterus. Ectopic pregnancy often presents irregular vaginal bleeding, which is brown in color, small in amount, and continuous, generally not exceeding the menstrual volume. Decidual tubular shapes or fragments may be discharged with the vaginal bleeding. The harm of ectopic pregnancy is huge. Not only can the combination of sperm and egg fail to grow into a normal fetus, but if the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy are not discovered and treated early, it may seriously endanger life.
