What causes excessive menstruation?

What causes excessive menstruation?

Although every woman has menstruation, the number of days and flow of menstruation reflect the health status of women. If the menstrual flow has always been normal, but suddenly becomes heavy, it is mostly a health problem. At this time, women need to understand the cause and seek treatment as soon as possible. So, what causes excessive menstruation?

Doctors believe that normal menstrual bleeding should be 20-60ml, and more than 80ml is considered menorrhagia. Based on the rough estimate of the usage of sanitary napkins, the normal usage is to change them four or five times a day on average, and each cycle does not exceed a few packs (10 pieces per bag). If 3 packs of sanitary napkins are not enough, and almost one sanitary napkin is wet, it means that the menstrual flow is too heavy. The causes of menorrhagia vary for women of different ages and physiological stages. Taking women aged 25 to 40 as an example, abnormal increased vaginal bleeding is mainly related to the following factors.

1. Improper contraceptive methods

Sometimes, abnormal vaginal bleeding is related to the type of birth control you use. The most common "inconvenience" is the IUD. In China, it is the most widely used contraceptive method for women after childbirth. The most prominent problems it causes are shortened menstrual cycles, prolonged menstruation, significantly increased menstrual volume, and postmenstrual bleeding.

2. Infection

Inflammation of the male reproductive organs is another common cause of abnormal vaginal bleeding. As we all know, the female reproductive organ is not completely closed. The semi-open passage between it and the outside world makes it vulnerable to various external pathogenic factors.

3. Miscarriage or abnormal pregnancy

Abnormal vaginal bleeding in mature women is sometimes related to pregnancy complications. If your period is usually very regular, but is inexplicably late for more than a week or more than ten days, then it will continue to flow like a gate opened, mixed with more blood clots or tissue than usual, and last longer than usual. Then, this is most likely a small-to-medium-sized miscarriage.

4. Uterine ectopic disease

Uterine and ovarian endometriosis and adenomyosis Simply put, endometriosis is the tissue that should have grown in the inner layer of the endometrium and appears in other places. This "disordered" uterine wall affects the various normal functions of the reproductive organs and is often accompanied by various menstrual disorders.

5. Tumor

The most common sexual organ tumor among women of childbearing age is uterine fibroids. The prevalence of uterine fibroids is very high, reaching 20% to 25%, but please don't be afraid, because 99.5% of them are healthy. Only two types of uterine fibroids, myenteric and submucosal, are responsible for most of the menstrual bleeding.
