Swollen feet in late pregnancy means I'm about to give birth.

Swollen feet in late pregnancy means I'm about to give birth.

When the pregnancy enters the late stage, pregnant women need to pay attention, because the baby may come early at this time, and the pregnant woman will become different from before immediately after pregnancy. First of all, the body shape changes, it may become very loose, and the taste may become strange. Just like the food that we used to like, we are becoming less and less interested in it nowadays. Some women will experience edema during pregnancy. So, does swelling of feet in the late pregnancy mean that we are giving birth?

1. Severe swelling of the feet in late pregnancy does not mean that the pregnant woman is about to give birth. There are many reasons for swollen feet in pregnant women. During pregnancy, the uterus will be compressed by the inferior vena cava, causing poor venous return and swelling of the feet. In addition, physiological blood dilution will occur in the later stages of pregnancy, and most pregnant women also have hypoproteinemia, which will aggravate the swelling of the feet. Some pregnant women may also develop gestational hypertension or malnutrition, which can cause swollen feet. But this does not mean that the baby is about to be born. Signs of labor include spotting, irregular abdominal pain, or vaginal discharge. Pregnant women should pay attention to nutritional balance and increase protein foods, such as lean meat, eggs, milk and so on.

2. Edema is very common in the late pregnancy. As the gestational age increases, the edema of pregnant women will become more and more obvious. During the entire pregnancy, the blood volume increases by 6-8 liters, of which 4-6 liters are extracellular fluid, which is stored in the tissues and causes edema. There are many reasons for edema in pregnant women. The increase of growth hormone in embryo metabolism leads to water retention in the body. There are also cases where the blood vessels in the lower body of expectant mothers are compressed by the uterus, which affects the smooth circulation of blood, especially the hands, ankles, calves and other parts of the body where fluid stagnates and blood flow is blocked, resulting in edema.

3. Edema is a reaction to pregnancy, it does not mean that the baby is about to be born. In fact, it depends on the maturity of the embryo. The sight of blood, frequent contractions or rupture of amniotic fluid are the three major signs of labor. It is normal to have edema in the late pregnancy. Pregnant mothers should pay attention to controlling their salt intake and eat less salt. You can eat some anti-edema and diuretic foods in moderation, pay attention to a good rest at ordinary times, and it is best for pregnant women to sleep on their left side at night, and you can use a backrest to raise your feet.
