How to know how many weeks pregnant

How to know how many weeks pregnant

Many women realize they are pregnant long after their first menstrual period, and in many cases the way to confirm their pregnancy is to first test with a pregnancy test stick and then go to the hospital for examination. However, it is not difficult to confirm that you are pregnant, but it is not easy to determine how many weeks you are pregnant. So, how do you determine how many weeks pregnant you are?

How to tell how many weeks you are pregnant

Medically theoretical pregnancy weeks

This is the calculation method used in medical reports. At the same time, it is also the calculation method used by everyone in daily communication, when seeing a doctor, and when discussing in the community forum. In short, unless otherwise specified, the pregnancy weeks everyone talks about are all the "medically theoretical pregnancy weeks". Its assumption is that the ovulation period and menstruation of pregnant women conform to the medical regularity, that is, the menstrual cycle is 28 days, and the ovulation period occurs 14 days before the last menstruation (also 14 days after the last menstruation).

The calculation method is relatively simple. The first day of your last menstrual period is the first day of pregnancy. For example, if you found that you had your period in the afternoon of December 26, and your period comes on February 1 of the following year, your gestational age is 6 days (December 26-31) 31 days (January of the following year) 1 day (February of the following year) = 37 days, which can be described as 5W 2D in terms of gestational weeks.

Specific weeks of pregnancy

Because many people have irregular ovulation, it is not exactly 14 days from the expected date of pregnancy, but the eggs are ovulated at a very different time, either earlier or later. If the difference is only within 3 days, the doctor will calculate all the indicators based on the "medical theoretical gestational age" and it will not affect anything, but if the difference is too large, it will immediately affect. The calculation method is to find the specific date of your ovulation period, and then push forward 14 days from this date, taking this day as your due date, and then calculate the gestational age.

For example, the due date is December 15, 2015, and today is January 7. According to the "Basic Medical Theory of Pregnancy Weeks", it is 3W 2D. Little do people know that because the actual ovulation period is December 25, which is 4 days earlier than the theoretical December 29, the "specific pregnancy weeks" should be calculated most accurately based on December 15-4 days, that is, December 11.

What are the symptoms of early pregnancy

Symptom 1: High body temperature

Pregnancy continues to raise body temperature. You may feel a little hot and wonder if you have a cold. Sisters who have the habit of measuring body temperature during pregnancy preparation will immediately know that the body temperature is higher than normal during pregnancy.

Symptom 2: Implantation bleeding

When the sperm and egg combine and the embryo implants in the uterus, it will cause mild bleeding. This is what is commonly known as "implantation bleeding". Generally, the embryo will implant after the sperm and egg combine 5-7 days after pregnancy. However, not all women experience this symptom, so it is not a prominent sign of pregnancy.

Symptom 3: Abdominal discomfort

When the embryo implants, some people also experience "implantation bleeding" and some people also experience abdominal pain.

Symptom 4: Dry mouth

Some sisters also have this kind of reaction in the morning, and they feel thirstier than before!

Symptom 5: Fever and cold

Some people also have cold symptoms in the early stages of pregnancy, but they are generally mild cold symptoms, or they feel sleepy.

Symptom 6: Breasts become more sensitive, nipples are painful, breasts are enlarged

When you're pregnant, your body starts to secrete lactation in preparation for milk, and testosterone levels start to rise. The breasts will become more sensitive and enlarged, and the nipples will feel sore and become abnormally sensitive. Some women find that their nipples become darker.
