Cosmetic ingredients that pregnant women should not use

Many pregnant mothers often have such doubts: "Is this one usable? Which one is usable?" Yes, many pregnant women are troubled by pregnancy skin care, and when using skin care products, they have to consider whether they will cause a health threat to the baby's growth. In fact, the most important thing for pregnant mothers to buy skin care products is safety and rationality, so as long as there are no skin care ingredients that pregnant women cannot use, it will be fine. Some pregnant mothers may ask, what are the ingredients in skin care products that pregnant women cannot use? Don’t worry, let’s take a look below!

1. Salicylic acid, taking large doses can cause fetal deformities

Clinical trials have found that taking small doses of acetylsalicylic acid (also known as aspirin) during pregnancy does not increase the risk of fetal malformations, premature births, or low birth weight. However, taking large doses of acetylsalicylic acid during pregnancy may increase the risk of fetal malformations. Skin care products containing salicylic acid have been around for many years, but there is no information on their safety when used by pregnant women. Therefore, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, it is not necessary to panic if you occasionally use a small amount of skin care products with a lower concentration of salicylic acid (less than 2%). However, if salicylic acid is contained in skin care products that are used for a long time or on a large scale, such as massage creams, you should be careful. This is especially important when using salicylic acid peels with a high water content. Therefore, during pregnancy, for safety reasons, stop using skin care products containing salicylic acid.

2. Phthalates, which act as a tackifier for plastics

Phthalates are used in polyethylene raw materials to transform polyethylene from a hard plastic into a ductile plastic, acting as a plasticizer. It is widely used in hundreds of products including toys, food packaging products, medical equipment blood bags and rubber hoses, butadiene floors and wallpapers, cleaning fluids, lubricants, personal care products (such as nail polish, hair spray, soap and shampoo), etc., but it has serious harm to human health.

3. Retin-A and tetracycline stimulate collagen growth

Retin-A is a topical form of vitamin A used to treat skin conditions including acne, oily skin and wrinkles. When applied regularly to the skin, Retin-A is helpful in unclogging clogged pores and stimulating the growth of collagen. But it cannot be used on pregnant women.

4. Ethanol, dry skin, sensitive skin should be used with caution

Ethanol can evaporate quickly on the surface of the skin to produce a refreshing feeling. As an organic solvent, it is widely used in products such as water and moisturizing lotion. Practical experience shows that it is safe and suitable. However, due to the strong penetrating ability of ethanol, it may cause irritation to girls with dry skin and sensitive skin. In this case, you can choose products that do not contain alcohol. And for girls with oily skin, ethanol can help remove plant oils on the surface of the skin, making it feel more refreshed.

5. Hydroquinone and growth hormone, key ingredients for removing spots

Hydroquinone is a drug used in medicine to treat dark spots, but long-term and large-dose use has potential damage to the skin. Therefore, my country prohibits the use of this ingredient in skin care products.
