What to do if your thighs get fat during pregnancy

Pregnant women should take good care of their bodies, pay attention to their diet and actions, and maintain a good mood. A woman's body will undergo many changes after pregnancy, such as pregnancy reactions, edema, and appearing fatter. Some pregnant women will experience fatter thighs, and they don’t know what to do for a while. What should they do if they have fat thighs during pregnancy? Let’s take a look at it next.

1. Take rest

The reason why the lower body becomes fat during pregnancy is not necessarily because we have gained weight, it is very likely because we have edema. Pregnant women with edema should pay attention to rest and ensure adequate sleep. Adequate rest can reduce the burden on body organs and relieve pressure on blood vessels. When resting, we must also adopt the correct posture and put a pillow under our feet to raise our feet. This can speed up the return of blood from the legs to the heart. When sitting, we can also put our feet on a stool to relieve edema.

2. Massage to relieve

After pregnancy, pregnant women should try to wear loose clothes, because tight clothes can easily cause blood circulation problems and aggravate edema, especially the pants or shoes on the lower body must be loose. If edema occurs, we can perform appropriate massage to promote blood circulation and relieve edema.

3. Appropriate Activities

We should also do appropriate activities after pregnancy, because activities can relax the legs. Of course, we should also pay attention to a reasonable diet and try to avoid salt intake. Too salty food will aggravate edema. Since pregnant women have a relatively weak constitution, we must pay attention to keeping warm. Cold air can reduce blood flow and thus increase edema.

IV. Precautions

During pregnancy, if you find that you are not gaining weight all over your body but only in the lower body, you must go to the hospital for a check-up to determine whether you are obese. If it is not obesity but edema, you don’t have to worry, because most female friends will have varying degrees of edema during pregnancy, and this phenomenon will slowly disappear after the delivery.
