How to promote labor after due date

How to promote labor after due date

After becoming pregnant, mothers will carefully calculate their due date. At the same time, when they are examined in the hospital, doctors will also inform many mothers in the late stages of pregnancy of the due date so that they can make corresponding preparations in advance. They find that the due date has passed and there are still no symptoms of delivery or anything unusual. At this time, they will be very worried whether there is something wrong with the baby in the belly. What should they do after the due date has passed? Don't be too nervous, you can learn about the relevant knowledge.

When we are past the due date and there is no sign of labor, we should do the following:

1. Check the expected date of delivery:

To determine an overdue pregnancy, you must first determine whether the due date is reliable. Some people have irregular menstruation; some people cannot remember the time of their last menstrual period, etc. In this case, you must recheck the due date with the help of a doctor.

How to check due date:

The exact date of your last menstrual period;

When and how did you know you were pregnant after your last menstrual period?

The earliest time when early pregnancy symptoms appear (nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, breast tenderness, emotional fragility, etc.);

The gestational age indicated by the first ultrasound scan;

When the fetal movement first occurred;

Based on the above examinations and self-feelings, the expected date of delivery can generally be calculated accurately, and based on this time, it can be determined whether the pregnancy is overdue.

Do not determine whether the pregnancy is overdue based on the B-ultrasound in the late pregnancy, because the birth weight of the fetus varies, some are 8 catties, some are 5 catties. The 8 catties one is considered full-term, while the 5 catties one is considered too early, which will cause delays.

2. Self-monitoring:

Pregnant women who are beyond their due date need to monitor themselves, and the best way is to observe fetal movements. The so-called observation of fetal movement means paying attention to whether the fetus is moving and whether the movement is the same as usual. If the fetal movement decreases or is obviously not moving, go to the hospital to see a doctor immediately. Since there is no pattern to fetal movement, don't scare yourself. The fetal sleep-wake cycle is 40 minutes. Generally, the fetus will not move for about an hour, and then it will move. If it doesn't move, you can also touch its abdomen and pat it gently, or clap your hands and then observe.
