Why are pregnant women more susceptible to urinary system diseases?

Some women find themselves infected with some urinary tract diseases after pregnancy. In fact, this situation occurs mainly because during pregnancy, as the fetus continues to grow and develop, the uterus will gradually become larger, thereby compressing the pregnant mother's bladder. This will cause changes in the bladder environment, making it more susceptible to invasion by some bacteria. Therefore, pregnant mothers are more susceptible to urinary system diseases.

Diseases can occur in any organ of the urinary system (kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra) and affect the entire system. Diseases of the urinary system can be caused by pathological changes in other body systems and can also affect other systems or even the whole body. It mainly manifests itself in the urinary system, such as changes in urination, changes in urine, lumps, pain, etc., but it can also manifest in other aspects, such as high blood pressure, edema, anemia, etc. The nature of urinary system diseases is similar to that of diseases in other systems, including congenital malformations, infections, immune mechanisms, heredity, injuries, tumors, etc.; but it also has its own unique diseases, such as glomerulonephritis, urolithiasis, and renal failure.

The main manifestations are changes in urination, changes in urine, lumps, pain, etc., but it can also manifest in other aspects such as high blood pressure, edema, anemia, etc. When the following three signs appear, urinary system disease should be considered.

1. Abnormal urine

Abnormal changes in urine include bacteriuria, pyuria, hematuria/proteinuria, etc.

2. Abnormal urination

Common urination abnormalities include frequent urination, urgency, and pain during urination. Urinary incontinence and urinary retention may also occur. In the early stage of chronic renal failure caused by chronic pyelonephritis, there may be polyuria, and in the later stage, there may be oliguria or anuria.

3. Low back pain

Low back pain is a common clinical symptom, and kidney and perirenal diseases are one of the common causes of low back pain. Inflammation of the kidney and surrounding areas, such as renal abscess, perinephritis, perirenal abscess, and acute pyelonephritis, often causes persistent and severe pain in the lower back. The low back pain caused by chronic pyelonephritis is often soreness.
