What causes menstrual cramps, nausea and vomiting?

Dysmenorrhea, nausea and vomiting are common conditions during women's menstrual period. These symptoms are usually caused by a certain amount of estrogen in the female blood, or due to physical weakness. You can adjust your diet appropriately and supplement some nourishing foods.

What causes menstrual cramps, nausea and vomiting?

1. Physiological reasons. In fact, this has something to do with the estrogen in women’s blood. Women have a special physiological structure. The concentration of estradiol in serum decreases before and after menstruation, which will cause the uterine blood vessels to be more sensitive to some factors, and thus the vascular tension will change, and some patients may suffer from headaches. After a woman's menstruation ends, the estradiol concentration returns to normal and the patient's headache will be greatly relieved. Estrogen actually stimulates people's prostaglandin secretion. Abnormal prostaglandin secretion will eventually cause headaches, nausea, and vomiting.

2. Lifestyle habits. Some people may have these symptoms due to lack of physical exercise, insufficient sleep during menstruation, irregular lifestyle, and failure to eat on time. Irregular lifestyle and improper diet can cause menstrual headaches.

3. Mental stress. In life and work, we often encounter some unpleasant things. In addition, people are generally under great pressure in life and work, and the brain nerves are in a state of tension for a long time. Female friends are under great mental pressure, which may lead to some menstrual discomfort.

Dysmenorrhea refers to abdominal pain during menstruation that affects normal life. It exceeds the degree of low back pain and lower abdominal pain caused by pelvic congestion during normal menstruation, and generally requires medication to relieve it.

In addition to abdominal pain, dysmenorrhea is also prone to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and fatigue. This is because dysmenorrhea is generally caused by increased secretion of prostaglandins in the endometrium, which causes rigid contractions of the uterus, which reflexively causes nerve reactions and causes nausea, vomiting and other discomforts.

What should I do if I have dysmenorrhea, nausea, or vomiting?

First of all, we need to start with the treatment of dysmenorrhea. We can use some painkillers according to the symptoms, such as Yuanhu analgesic tablets. They have a good analgesic effect, can relieve pain, and the nerve reaction caused by pain will also be reduced, which is helpful to relieve nausea and vomiting symptoms.

Another thing you can do is take antiemetic drugs, such as vitamin B6, which can treat nausea and vomiting, and relieve nausea and vomiting symptoms caused by dysmenorrhea.

Secondly, we can adjust our diet. During menstruation, we should avoid eating spicy, stimulating, cold or hard food. We can drink some brown sugar ginger water, and some uterus-warming food such as light mutton soup, to dispel the cold and warm the gastrointestinal tract, which is helpful in relieving nausea and vomiting caused by dysmenorrhea.

Generally, nausea and vomiting caused by dysmenorrhea will be relieved and improved with the above treatments. If the symptoms are not relieved by taking painkillers, antiemetics and diet control, you need to go to the hospital for a check-up to see if there are other diseases causing the nausea and vomiting.

Diseases such as gastrointestinal dysfunction, gastritis, enteritis in internal medicine, intestinal obstruction, appendicitis in surgery, and hepatitis in infectious diseases will all show symptoms of nausea and vomiting. Relevant examinations can be done to distinguish them from nausea and vomiting caused by dysmenorrhea nerve reactions.
