What to do if a pregnant woman has colitis

During pregnancy, it is very necessary for pregnant women to have a regular and clean diet in order to prevent the occurrence of gastrointestinal diseases. It’s just that pregnant women are relatively more fragile, so the probability of developing gastrointestinal diseases, such as colitis, is relatively high. After suffering from colitis, pregnant women cannot take medication blindly because it may affect the normal development of the fetus. So what should pregnant women do if they have colitis?

Enteritis in pregnant women is mainly caused by recent unclean diet or cold abdomen, which leads to abdominal pain and diarrhea. It should be treated as early as possible to avoid aggravating diarrhea and inducing miscarriage or causing excessive loss of nutrients, resulting in fetal maldevelopment. If it is early-stage enteritis, patients are generally advised to reduce their diet to avoid increasing the burden on the gastrointestinal tract. Eat more light and easily digestible foods, such as noodles, millet porridge, etc., and try to avoid raw, cold, irritating and greasy foods. At the same time, drink some warm boiled water, warm sugar and salt water to replenish the water lost by the body. You can also choose to take medications as appropriate, such as montmorillonite powder and norfloxacin. These drugs should be used under the guidance of a doctor. It is best to go to the hospital for a routine stool test to rule out viral enteritis and not to take medication blindly on your own. If the condition is more serious, intravenous anti-inflammatory treatment may be required.

If the patient's physical condition is special, slow conditioning can be carried out.

First of all, you need to relax your mind, pay attention to your regular life, ensure adequate sleep, increase exercise appropriately, and strengthen your physical fitness. This will help regulate and accelerate the recovery of gastrointestinal nerve function.

Second, pay attention to the diet, which is low in fat, low in fiber, high in oil or too much fat. Foods are not easy to digest and have a laxative effect, which will aggravate diarrhea symptoms. The cooking methods include steaming, boiling, stewing or braising.

Third, be careful to eat less gas-producing foods and sweets. When passing gas, you should eat less sugar and some foods that are related to the expected delivery period, such as soybeans, sweet potatoes, radishes, pumpkins, soybeans, etc.

Fourth, you must pay attention to food hygiene. Do not eat spoiled food, raw, cold, hard, or irritating food. Also, avoid alcohol.
