What are the symptoms of female urinary tract infection

Urinary tract infection is very common in life. Women are a high-risk group for urinary tract infection. Urinary tract infection will not only damage physical health, but also have a great impact on daily life. Usually, people do not understand the symptoms of urinary tract infection. When symptoms of urinary tract infection appear in the body, they often fail to seek medical treatment in time. As a result, the condition not only worsens, but also increases the difficulty of treatment. The following introduces the symptoms of urinary tract infection in women.

What are the symptoms of female urinary tract infection

Symptom 1: Low back pain

Low back pain is one of the symptoms of urinary tract infection. Low back pain will occur when the renal capsule, renal pelvis, and ureter are irritated or the tension increases. Lower urinary tract infection generally does not cause low back pain. Inflammation of the kidney and surrounding areas, such as renal abscess, perinephritis, perirenal abscess, and acute pyelonephritis, often cause persistent and severe swelling and pain in the lower back. The low back pain caused by chronic pyelonephritis is often soreness.

Symptom 2: Systemic symptoms

Symptoms such as fever, chills, headache, etc. are mainly seen in patients with upper urinary tract infection, especially those with acute urinary tract infection and urinary tract obstruction.

Symptom 3: Abnormal urination

Abnormal urination is one of the symptoms of urinary tract infection. The most common abnormal urination caused by urinary tract infection is frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating. Urinary incontinence and urinary retention may also be seen. In the early stage of chronic renal failure caused by chronic pyelonephritis, there may be polyuria, and in the later stage, there may be oliguria or anuria.

Symptom 4: Abnormal urine

Urinary tract infection can cause abnormal changes in urine, the most common of which are bacteriuria, pyuria, hematuria and pneumaturia. Routine urine examination may show white blood cells, red blood cells or even protein.

What to do if a woman has a urinary tract infection

The principles of treatment for urinary tract infection are to control symptoms, eliminate pathogens, remove inducing factors and prevent recurrence. It generally includes general treatment, use of antibiotics, traditional Chinese medicine treatment, etc.

1. General treatment: When symptoms are obvious, you should rest in bed, drink plenty of water, urinate frequently, and alkalize urine appropriately.

2. Try to choose sensitive antibiotics based on drug sensitivity tests. Before that, SMZco, quinolone antibiotics, ampicillin, second- or third-generation cephalosporin antibiotics, etc. should be selected based on clinical conditions. For patients with more acute and severe conditions, combined intravenous administration should be used.

3. Correct the complex factors that cause urinary tract infection, such as stones, urinary tract obstruction, vesicoureteral reflux, etc.

4. Treatment with traditional Chinese medicine.
