Do I need to drain residual milk after weaning?

After weaning, many female friends do not discharge the residual milk. At this time, a lot of inflammation will accumulate in the breasts, which will cause nipple inflammation over time. The most common one is mastitis. The treatment process of this disease is very painful. Therefore, female friends should still pay attention to discharge the residual milk, and after weaning, they also need to pay more attention to adding some complementary foods to their babies to ensure their nutritional content.

Suggested approach

Gradually increase the amount of food 2-3 months before weaning to make weaning a natural process. We should also help children develop good eating habits, such as a reasonable combination of vegetables and meat, teaching them to chew, eat less snacks, etc., to avoid obesity and picky eating in the future. It is normal for some children to eat less after switching to solid food, and you should not use coercion to force them to eat more.

This is often an important reason why children refuse to eat well. Children should eat at regular times and in regular amounts. Do not continue to feed them after they have eaten too much. Do not feed them while they are playing, or parents should show anxiety when they eat little. Be careful to prevent children from refusing to eat as a way of threatening their parents in order to meet their unreasonable demands.

Regarding weaning, mothers need to consider the following factors.

The wrong way to wean

(1) Apply irritants such as ink, hot pepper spray, or Tiger Balm to the nipples. For babies, this is simply cruel "torture". The mother thinks that the baby will develop a dislike for breast milk and give up breastfeeding, but the effect is counterproductive. It would be strange if the baby is not scared, and he will refuse to eat out of fear, thus affecting his physical health. Now that breast milk has not been stopped, the baby has been weaned off from other foods.

(2) Suddenly weaning the baby and sending the baby to the mother’s or husband’s home, and not seeing the baby for several days or even a long time. Weaning does not require separation of mother and child. Emotionally, the baby can no longer have mother’s milk, but cannot live without her! Long-term separation of mother and child will make the baby feel insecure, especially for babies who are highly dependent on breast milk. They will become anxious because they cannot see their mother, and will be unwilling to eat, unwilling to interact with others, become irritable, cry violently, have poor sleep, and may even become sick and lose weight. If breastfeeding is not weaned properly, it will affect the baby's physical and mental health, which is really not worth it.
