What is right mastoiditis?

Mastoiditis is a subacute suppurative inflammation of the mastoid air cell mucosa and bone hyperplasia, which is mostly caused by the development of subacute suppurative otitis media. Although the space-occupying lesions of mastoiditis continue to develop, systemic and local symptoms are not obvious, and may not be discovered. This is called latent mastoiditis. If acute mastoiditis cannot be controlled, the inflammation will continue to develop, which may rupture the mastoid bone wall and cause brain and external complications.

disease:

1. The skin of the mastoid area is swollen, red, and painful.

2. The posterior upper wall of the bony part of the ear canal is swollen and collapsed; the perforation of the eardrum is small, with thick fluid beating on the hole and a large amount of pus; sometimes the thick fluid breaks through the surface of the mastoid and forms a cyst under the periosteum.

3. In the early stage of mastoid X-ray, the tympanic sinus and mastoid air cells are turbid and cloudy.

4. The white blood cell count increased and the multi-component superoxide dismutase cells increased.

Treatment: Large doses of antibiotics should be injected initially, such as penicillins, cephalosporins, etc. In order to control the condition as early as possible, penicillin and streptomycin are injected together at the beginning. In addition, aspirates are taken from the ear for bacterial culture and drug sensitivity test, so as to facilitate the use of sensitive drugs. If the perforation of the eardrum is small, the drainage of pus is blocked, or the eardrum is not ruptured, a myniotomy should be performed to facilitate drainage. If a cyst has already formed behind the ear, the pus can be drained by incision. If drainage is inadequate, infection is uncontrolled, or unusual complications occur, a mastoidectomy should be performed immediately.

prevent:

1. Actively and promptly treat acute otitis media.

2. After the occurrence of subacute mastoiditis, it will spontaneously rupture and spread outward within a certain period of time. Simple mastoidectomy should be performed in time to drain and remove the purulent substances in the middle ear and mastoid to prevent it from spreading outward and causing dorsal ear cysts, and spreading inward and causing brain complications such as meningitis.

3. The patient's health literacy should be improved, nutrition should be improved, and a sufficient protein and vitamin diet should be provided to enhance immunity.
