Is it serious for women to have a white blood cell count of 20?

If female friends find abnormal white blood cell test results during examination, they should go for further examination so that their bodies can become healthier and avoid abnormal conditions. In fact, abnormal white blood cell index is not necessarily caused by serious gynecological diseases. In many cases, simple inflammatory changes can also cause abnormal white blood cell index. The most common occurrence is when having a fever.

The total number of white blood cells and the percentage of different types of white blood cells in the human body are relatively stable. A normal person has 5,000 to 10,000 white blood cells per cubic millimeter of blood. The percentages of various white blood cells are: neutrophils 50-70%; eosinophils 1-4%; alkaliphils 0-1%; lymphocytes 20-40%; monocytes 1-7%. Inflammation or other diseases in the body can cause changes in the total white blood cell count and the percentage of various white blood cells. Therefore, checking the total white blood cell count and white blood cell classification count becomes an important method for auxiliary diagnosis.

The number of white blood cells in feces increases when the intestine is inflamed, and its amount is related to the severity and location of the inflammation. When the small intestine is inflamed, the number of white blood cells is small and they are evenly mixed in the feces and are difficult to identify because the cells are partially digested. In cases of colon inflammation such as bacillary dysentery, white blood cells appear in large numbers, even filling the entire field of vision, and degenerated white blood cells can be seen. Pus cells with incomplete or broken edges, unclear nuclei, and piles of pus cells can also be seen. In allergic enteritis and intestinal parasitic diseases (such as amoebic dysentery or hookworm disease), Charcot-Leyden crystals are sometimes found in the stool, and eosinophils can be seen when stained with Wright's stain.

Epidemiological and clinical studies have found that white blood cells are related to the occurrence and prognosis of cerebrovascular disease. A two-year observation study of more than 10,000 people showed that an increase in white blood cell count is one of the precursors of cerebral infarction; and an increase in neutrophil count has the greatest correlation, especially in the group under 65 years old. The higher the white blood cell count in the blood, the greater the risk of cerebral infarction. There is leukocyte infiltration around the infarcted tissue, and leukocyte aggregation in the capillaries around the infarcted focus. The rheological study of leukocytes in patients with cerebrovascular disease also found that leukocytes play an important role in the pathophysiological process of cerebrovascular disease.

It has phagocytic and chemotactic effects. Increased eosinophilia reactivity is seen in bronchial asthma, angioedema, food allergy, and mental illness, in which eosinophilia can be seen in the blood. When intestinal parasite antigens come into contact with IgE-bound mast cells in the intestinal wall, the latter degranulate and release histamine, leading to an increase in eosinophils.

Prognosis and determination of adrenal cortical function in surgical and burn patients. Tumor-related increases are seen in malignant diseases of the lymphatic system, blood diseases, chronic leukemia, etc. The eosinophil count in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia is often as high as 10% or more, and immature eosinophils may be seen. Eosinophilia occurs in typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, severe tissue damage after surgery, and after the use of adrenocorticotropic hormone or adrenocorticotropic hormone, but generally has little clinical significance.
