Stiff finger joints after waking up

After giving birth, a woman's body is in a relatively fragile stage. Because the body's resistance is too weak, she should avoid strenuous exercise and keep warm to prevent cold. Otherwise, she is very likely to develop a disease and aggravate the symptoms of physical discomfort. Many women experience stiff finger joints after giving birth, which causes a lot of trouble in their daily lives. What is the cause of this?

Is the stiffness of fingers after childbirth due to the body not recovering?

Postpartum finger stiffness

The body of a postpartum woman who has just given birth is at its most vulnerable stage. If she is not careful, she may suffer from postpartum diseases during the confinement period, such as headaches, heel pain, etc. We all know that postpartum diseases are very difficult to cure. Some women find that the thumb joints of their hands are very stiff every time they wake up after the confinement period, and it is difficult to bend them. This may be postpartum rheumatism caused by the hands being exposed to cold water during the confinement period.

1. Why do fingers become stiff after childbirth?

Catching a cold after childbirth can easily lead to internal accumulation of cold in the body and cause joint stiffness. You should go to the gynecology department of a traditional Chinese medicine hospital for treatment and be given Chinese medicine that warms the yang and dispels the cold. In addition, you need to check the four rheumatic items and rheumatoid factor.

2. Causes of postpartum finger joint pain

Postpartum finger joint pain is a type of postpartum joint pain. The main cause of the disease is the endocrine changes in the mother's body after delivery, which causes the strength and elasticity of the hand muscles and tendons to decrease to varying degrees, and the tension of the joint capsule and ligaments near the joints to weaken, thereby leading to joint relaxation and weakened function. This is the underlying cause of joint pain in the hands and feet for new mothers.

3. What to do if your finger joints hurt after childbirth

1. Boil mugwort leaves in water for bathing: Use 100g fresh mugwort leaves (50g dried product) and a few slices of ginger to boil half a bucket of water, then pour the water into a hot water tub at a suitable temperature for bathing.

Function: Mugwort has the effects of regulating qi and blood, warming the meridians, expelling cold and dampness and relieving pain. Postpartum mothers are prone to wind, cold and dampness due to deficiency of qi and blood, so they should often use it to boil water for washing their bodies.

2. Hot compress method with coarse salt bag: Buy 1 pound of edible coarse salt, fry it until hot, add 50g of moxa leaves, put it into a gauze bag and wrap it with a cloth with good air permeability, and apply it to the affected area. However, you need to pay attention to adjust the temperature to prevent skin burns.

Function: Relieve local inflammation and improve joint metabolic function. It is best to do it once a day for more than a week. The salt can be reused.

4. Dietary treatment for postpartum finger joint pain

1. Chicken cooked with ginger and wine: one chicken, half a pound of ginger (chopped into small pieces), one pound of Hakka wine, cook and eat immediately.

Function: It can stimulate appetite, invigorate blood circulation, dispel wind and cold, and also promote blood circulation and improve joint metabolism function.

2. Angelica Ginger Lamb Soup: Use 400g lamb, 20g angelica, appropriate amounts of ginger slices, salt, cooking wine, and soy sauce. Remove the fascia from the mutton, chop it into small pieces and blanch it. Put an appropriate amount of water in the casserole, add angelica slices, mutton cubes, ginger slices, and cooking wine, boil over high heat, skim off the foam, then simmer over medium heat until the mutton is cooked through, and add salt to taste.

Function: Angelica sinensis is warm in nature, nourishes yin and blood, moistens the intestines and promotes bowel movements. Lamb is rich in protein, fat, carbohydrates, minerals, carotene and B vitamins. It can be used for blood deficiency, lack of milk, joint pain, and persistent lochia after delivery.
