Is follicle 20x17 the dominant follicle?

Under normal circumstances, a group of follicles will begin to develop every month, but in the end only one follicle will mature and then ovulate, and the other follicles will die. Therefore, women who are preparing for pregnancy are more likely to get pregnant during ovulation. With each menstrual cycle, the number of follicles will decrease, so the older you are, the less likely you are to get pregnant. Some women who are not easy to get pregnant usually monitor their follicles. Is the follicle 20x17 the dominant follicle?

It is the dominant follicle. Generally, a normal follicle is considered mature when it grows to 18 to 25 mm. If the follicle is small and discharged, the follicle quality may be poor. In this case, pregnancy may have a certain impact on the growth and development of the fetus, and may even result in fetal malformation, miscarriage, fetal arrest, fetal malformation, etc. It is recommended to try to protect the fetus in the early stages of pregnancy, monitor the growth and development of the fetus through regular prenatal checkups, and strengthen nutrition and get more rest.

Normal follicle size

The normal standard for follicle size is that the follicle is round or oval, with a diameter of 18-25mm. If the follicle size is lower or larger than the normal value, it will affect normal ovulation. Ultrasound monitoring shows that the largest follicle appears on the 10th to 16th day of menstruation. The follicle is 20mm in diameter, round in shape, with thin walls, protruding to one side of the ovary, and has good internal sound transmission. Ovulation usually occurs within 10 hours, and ovulation is more common on the 12th to 18th day of menstruation, and a few occur on the 20th to 30th day. Generally, mature follicles will be discharged within one to two days, and the discharged follicles can generally survive for 2 days.

Dominant follicle

The so-called dominant follicle in medicine is a follicle that is larger than 10mm and smaller than 18mm on ultrasound. There is always one follicle that is the largest in size, and after it ruptures and ovulates, the other follicles are absorbed and disappear one after another. We call this follicle with the largest head and the most mature development the dominant follicle. If the normal menstruation is 30 days, the follicle that grows to more than 1.0 on the tenth day of menstruation can be considered the dominant follicle.
