What to do if the leucorrhea is bloody and smells bad

Leucorrhea is a normal female genital secretion, which is secreted from the cervix and flows out of the vagina. Leucorrhea exists except during menstruation. The normal state of leucorrhea is milky white or transparent viscous substance. However, if there is blood in the leucorrhea and it is accompanied by an unpleasant odor, it proves that there may be a problem with the vagina or uterus. People should go to the hospital for examination in time and receive treatment as soon as possible.

There are two types of bloody vaginal discharge: physiological and pathological. Generally speaking, some women will experience ovulation bleeding during their ovulation period, also known as mid-menstrual bleeding, which refers to a small amount of bleeding between two normal menstrual periods, which may be accompanied by varying degrees of lower abdominal pain. If the symptoms are mild, no treatment is needed. If the bleeding is heavy or affects fertility, medication can be used for treatment. However, if there is bloody leucorrhea, the following diseases should also be considered: (1) cervical polyps. (2) Acute vaginitis (3) Severe cervical erosion (4) Senile vaginitis (5) Cervical cancer (6) Uterine submucosal fibroids (7) Endometrial cancer. In addition, sometimes due to the placement of an intrauterine contraceptive ring, there may be some blood mixed in the leucorrhea, which should be examined and treated specifically.

When there is inflammation of the reproductive tract such as vaginitis and acute cervicitis or cancer occurs, the amount of leucorrhea increases significantly and the properties change, which is called pathological leucorrhea. The bleeding may be caused by cervical erosion, and it cannot be ruled out that it is caused by infection with bacteria, fungi or other pathogenic microorganisms.
