Is postpartum uterine cleaning painful?

Is postpartum uterine cleaning painful?

Many women have placenta adhesion after giving birth, so some fetal membrane tissue may remain in the uterus. In this case, a uterine curettage is required to clean it out. If there are residues in the uterus that are not dealt with, it will have a huge impact on the body. Many women are also worried that uterine curettage surgery will be painful, and the specific degree of pain varies from person to person. So is it painful to have a uterine curettage after childbirth?

1. For women who give birth naturally, due to the adhesion of the placenta during the delivery process, there may be residual placental and fetal membrane tissue after delivery, and it is necessary to consider a uterine curettage operation to completely remove the residual tissue. If you just do a normal uterine curettage at this time, there will indeed be obvious pain, and this pain feels the same as that of a normal abortion, but most women can tolerate it. But if it is a painless uterine curettage, there will be no pain and the woman will usually wake up after the operation. The specific time of the uterine curettage operation varies from person to person. If there is not a lot of residue, it may take 10-15 minutes. But if the uterus is relatively large and there is a lot of residue, it may take about half an hour.

2. It is quite painful for women to undergo uterine curettage after childbirth. The principle of the operation is to insert the instrument directly into the uterine cavity to directly remove the residual fetal tissue or stagnant blood clots in the uterine cavity. When the instrument enters the uterine cavity, the pain is quite obvious, but the pain will not last long, because the uterine curettage operation itself only takes three to five minutes to complete. If you are afraid of pain or are nervous, you can choose to have a painless uterine curettage. Since painless uterine curettage uses anesthetic drugs, you will not feel any pain during the entire operation.

3. It should be noted that during the curettage operation, the endometrium is very susceptible to infection and inflammation, and menstrual abnormalities may occur. If uterine infection occurs after curettage and causes gynecological diseases, this will have a great impact on women's future pregnancies. If the uterus is not cleaned thoroughly during the curettage, there will be some residual substances in the uterus, which is also very easy to get infected. In this case, another cleaning operation will be required, which will cause further damage to the uterus.
