What to do if total bile acid is high during pregnancy

During pregnancy, a woman's body undergoes great changes, so she must take good care of herself. If the total bile acid level is high during pregnancy, it must be adjusted in time, otherwise it will be passed on to the baby and cause great harm to the fetus in the womb. High total bile acid levels can cause fetal hypoxia in the womb, and in severe cases, stillbirth. Prenatal check-ups must be done at intervals, which is good for the health of both the mother and the baby. So what should we do if total bile acid is high?

High bile acid levels are one of the most harmful conditions to the fetus. The fetus is always suffering from hypoxia in the womb. But you are now 26 weeks pregnant, and the baby has a poor chance of survival. So now we advocate hospitalization first. Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy: refers to jaundice caused by pregnancy, characterized by systemic itching, jaundice, total bile acid, and elevated liver enzymes. The incidence of miscarriage is 40-70%. Treatment: Potassium magnesium aspartate 40ml added to glucose intravenous drip, 7 days a course of treatment, dexamethasone 10mg added to liquid intravenous drip for three days, the fetus matures and the pregnancy is terminated as soon as possible.

Liver disease

It can easily cause an increase in total bile acid in serum. The serum bile acid content in the peripheral blood of healthy people is extremely low. When liver cells are damaged or there is obstruction inside or outside the liver, bile acid metabolism will become abnormal and the total bile acid will increase.

Liver diseases such as acute hepatitis, chronic hepatitis, and severe hepatitis can cause varying degrees of elevated total bile acid. Serum bile instinct level can be used as a sensitive indicator for detecting liver damage in chronic hepatitis.

Studies have shown that serum total bile acid concentration values can be used to distinguish active from inactive hepatitis. Serum bile acid measurements can also aid in monitoring treatment of chronic hepatitis and may replace the need for repeated liver biopsies. Bile acid increases with the progression of jaundice and has a certain relationship with the severity of the disease.
